Where's your nearest IMAX screen?
by Jeff Giles | October 16, 2007
Discuss Article
Itching for an early look at The Dark Knight? Collider has some good news and some bad news for you.

First the good news: According to the Portuguese cinema scoopers at Omelete, there will be a "six or seven-minute prologue about the Joker" attached to screenings of the post-apocalyptic Will Smith action epic I Am Legend.

Now, the bad news: You'll have to be watching Legend in an IMAX theater to see the prologue.

The Collider report also includes some spoiler-ish tidbits about The Dark Knight, as well as a couple of stills from the film, so click on through to check 'em out. I Am Legend opens December 14.

I love how when Bruce Wayne transforms into Batman (in Batman Begins), suddenly his voice sounds like a child-molester hiding behind a bush luring little innocent children. I can't help but laugh whenever this transition in his voice occur.

Of all voices, why the husky voice? If he doesn't want to conceal his identity, why not speak with Scottish accent?

Must Agree with Oldboy... haha

We actually had a period long discussion about this in Acting Class...

but, it is fun to use the Batman "Child Molester" voice at random points during the day...

I'm with you there, Oldboy. I enjoyed the first movie but Bale needs to work on his Batman persona. Bats needs to sound intimidating, not constipated. No complaints on his Bruce Wayne.

I'm glad I'm not the only one a little tickled by his pornstar voice with a case of diarrhea.

So ... is this prologue going to be part of The Dark Knight? Or is it a separate deal? Like the short that goes with Darjeeling Limited?

I dig the movie a lot, but I too find Bale's ridiculous gruff voice pretty silly. But it's most hilarious, I think, in the scene where he's got the fat, corrupt cop dangling upside down in the alley. It's especially funny to me because he's SO cartoonishly furious in that moment. It's absurdly over-the-top. I can't help giggling every time I watch it!

ah, "see you in december" makes sense now. More like "See SOME of you in December". Damn IMAX, the nearest IMAX theater to me is about 200 miles away. Well, the prologue will more than likely leak its way to the web within a few hours after or days before. I'm alittle more excited now.

I don't know, I think his voice kind of works. It was jarring at first, but I got over it. I mean, he has to sound scary, right? I grew to like it.

I don't know about this whole "I Am Legend" IMAX deal. The only way I'm going to shell out extra money to see something on IMAX is if it's something I've REALLY been anticipating, such as The Dark Knight. NOT a 7 minute trailer.

Ick.

Batman Begins was perfection. The Dark Knight will be perfection. Go see Will Smith and shut up. None of you bastards deserve it anyway.

the voice works chumps, tell me you wouldn't p2ss your pants if bale was about to kick your 2ss. a big thing they wanted to make clear is he's very big on intimidation, SYMBOLISM...to scare villians. other than maybe Keaton...bale is way above and beyond any other batman i've seen on screen or on tv. but while keaton was good, bale is ridiculous as an actor. its not even close, if thats the ONLY thing thats worth complaining about...i think he's doing a perfect job. i'm just really sick of these updates and sh3t, just give us the movie and stop being a tease. only other movie i've wanted to see this badly that took forever to come out was 300...

I agree with the 'pro-voicers' -- I think it works perfectly well and gettheh#ll over it. No one has to believe this, but when I went to see BB for the second time with a friend of mine, when Batman is beating the info out of Det. Flass (the upside-down cop), somebody in the theater wet themselves.

No Joke. My friend and I both looked at each other because we smelled the juice at the same time. It was pretty nasty, actually, in addition to being piss-in-your-pants (pun intended) funny.

can everyone who wants the studio to 'just give us the movie' shut up? it's a summer blockbuster, you knew it was going to come out in summer 2008, so why not consider all of this marketing a bonus? the TDK campaign is better than most, especially the trick websites and cryptic photos. For them to offer six minutes of a narrative rather than a 1-2 minute trailer is kind of a big whoop. I've never really heard of anything like it. If the studio actually listened to you impatient goofs and dropped the movie on us early, you'd complain that they rushed it. so, to reiterate, close your word holes.
