This is the problem when you're an exceptional, visionary filmmaker. When you give people something extraordinary, they expect it every time. Anything short of that feels like a letdown.
"But Nolan?s approach is so coldly cerebral that it?s a detriment to the film?s emotional core. It?s all doom and gloom and no heart. There is no reason to care about these characters, who function more as cogs in an elaborate, chaotic machine than as real people whose souls are at stake."
This seems to be a common complaint of Nolan's detractors. I'm just not one of them, I suppose. I really like the way Nolan handles his characters; how they're more emotional/psychological archetypes. It allows them to use wonderfully heavy-handed dialogue that he would otherwise be unable to get away with.
Also, this reviewer gave Battleship, Snow White, Magic Mike and Lucky One fresh reviews, so what does she know anyway? :p

A Wise Man
This c_unt thinks magick mike is better than The Dark Knight? LMAO
Jul 16 - 04:09 PM
This tool doesn't understand what a difference in opinion means. LMFAO!
Jul 16 - 04:13 PM
"Anything short of that feels like a letdown."
you review is a letdown. please retire.
Jul 16 - 04:11 PM
die in hell christy lemire
Jul 16 - 04:12 PM
i think it is stupid and inmature how people who haven't even seen a movie yet bash critics who have simply because the movie looks good in the trailer. wait till you've actually seen it to get angry.
Jul 16 - 04:16 PM
Even then they shouldn't get angry, everyone has their own opinion. Its sad most of these cry babies probably aren't this vocal about more important things in life.

Comic books have thousands of story lines, universes, and continuums. Who is any one person who is not associated with the comic book companies to say what they can or cannot do with their subject matter. I love old school Michael Keaton's universe as much as new school crime drama flooded Nolan's. Just saying.
Jul 16 - 04:17 PM
you're a stupid phucking b1tch and i hope you die
Jul 16 - 04:18 PM
Ms. Lemire: you're a stupid fuking b1tch and i hope you die
DO THE SKIT!!
You're quite immature and pathetic. Maybe when you graduate 4th grade, you will realize those types of comments have no place in society.
Jul 16 - 04:37 PM
Just so you know, RT is about to remove your comment and possibly delete your account, along with a bunch of you fanboys acting like 2 year olds.
Jul 16 - 04:42 PM
You guys are really INSANE! I like Lemire, she didn't like it, oh well. Why bitch and moan about it? Is she wrong for having her opinion? NO, give it a break guys, enough with the BS, she gave valid reasons for not liking it. ENOUGH! EVERY film has negative reviews. You guys give Nolan fans like me a bad name.
Nolan's Batman is a 10 for me. A realistic view of a superhero, and that's the reason I love it. Tim Burton's Batman was pretty good too. But talking about as Joker as the main archvillain and all that crapp is just doesn't make sense. Heath Ledger is dead! It was impossible to bring him back!
Jul 16 - 04:21 PM
I have a hard time understanding why you are reviewing a movie that is an independent entity on the basis of previous movies. It's either good or it isn't.
Why not say, hey its a lot better than Joel's Batman?
Jul 16 - 04:23 PM
Wait, you mean to tell me TDKR isn't a sequel to TDK and Batman Begins. It follows an overall storyline, stuff from the first movie take root in this film. Its an individual movie that's a part of an overall Trilogy so it must be compared to the ones before it.
Don't act all butt hurt over a negative review just because you disagree. Don't sit there and act like you don't compare sequels to the ones before them
Jul 16 - 04:30 PM
fresh review for red lights, battleship, and the lucky one? GTFO
Jul 16 - 04:24 PM
who the fuck cares? All critics have different opinion,s so we shouldn't take her review seriously because she liked battelship? Then some of the positive reviews that this film got from critics who ALSO liked Battleship shouldn't be taken seriously
Jul 16 - 04:27 PM
lol, Hugo to the rescue!!! GTFO
Jul 16 - 04:36 PM
Thanks to him and Jermain J. my faith in humanity has been restored. So stop trolling.
Jul 16 - 05:47 PM
How many people can call a movie good before the people who don't like it become wrong. I mean 29 people who liked it to 3 who didn't. It's hard to read "I loved it" 29 times followed by "I hated it " and take that view seriously. I respect critics because I wanna be one. So Christy can have whatever view she wants without the necessity of my opinion thrown in there.
Jul 16 - 04:26 PM
But look... not ALL of the positive reviewers LOVED it, and none of the 3 negative reviewers HATED it, so what you said doesn't make sense. A lot of films start off with 30 positive ones then get more negative ones.
Jul 16 - 04:28 PM
Yeah that's totally my bad for not thinking about it that way. I realize what you are saying.
Jul 16 - 04:32 PM
No one is wrong and no one is right. Its all opinion, its all based on personal feelings not facts. Grow up and get over it. So what if she didn't like it. I doubt all the critics who have liked this so far have given positive reviews to every movie you liked.
Jul 16 - 04:33 PM
Sorry if my comment seemed immature. It was off key and terrible phrasing.
Jul 16 - 04:53 PM
To be a so called top critic you sure are clueless but your a women rating a guys movie I guess since batman isnt a stripper that makes this a bad movie and you liked snow white that movie was terrible kristen stewart is the worst actor out there so if you are going to be a movie critic learn to watch movies other than chick flicks.
I reported you, you sexist piece of shit. Is Battleship a "chick flick"?
Why Christy, why?
Jul 16 - 04:34 PM
"Nolans batman will never be as iconic as Tim Burtons batman."
Jul 16 - 04:35 PM
Battleship was horrible, some of you defending this woman WOW!
Jul 16 - 04:39 PM
We defend her because we aren't ignorant fools who can't over the fact that someone doesn't have the same opinion as us. There are critics who liked Battleship as well as this movie, does that make them lose your respect? No because they didn't dislike the movie you haven't even seen yet. As long as people like the things you like then its okay, even if they like the things you don't like. What a stupid way of going about life, you need to learn to respect the difference in everyone's opinion. You told this reviewer to change your opinion so you can earn her respect, she doesn't give a damn about your respect. Why should she when you are not a respectful person yourself?
Jul 16 - 05:02 PM
What a bunch of virgin nerds, bashing someone who's seen a movie that HAVEN'T seen
Fanboys, she's doing her job, it's her job to tell her honest opinion, but until you see the movie, you guys look like children.
Grow up fanboys, acting like brats doesn't make you any more experts on film
Thank you! Make the rest of Nolan fans seem like idiots as well
Jul 16 - 04:48 PM
It's hard for you to take the high ground against people flinging insults, when you resort to doing the same.
Jul 16 - 04:50 PM
let the movie come out for everyone to see it. i expect a storm from people, because the movie is genuinely damn good .
Jul 16 - 04:54 PM
DUmb question I know, but how many here actually read the review?
Jul 16 - 04:58 PM
