an almost 3 hour film...the more news coming out about this film the less I become excited about it.

ohhhh you won't notice the running time . . . maybe if you're watching it on your ipod or iphone you will but in the movie theater the minutes will fly by and you'll end-up wishing to youself that the film would never end.

Seriously? Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers -2hrs 45 minutes each, Return of the King - 3hrs, The Godfather Parts 1 and 2 - 3hrs each, the Good the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West - 3hrs each, Lawrence of Arabia - 3hrs 30 minutes. Need I say more? Running times should not scare anyone from seeing a good film. Geez, talk about pre-judgement, if we all know Nolan, he wont waste a single shot.

I appreciate the examples. I think I'm just concerned that it's following the same pattern as the previous films. "There's a Storm coming!" for example in the trailer. That's pretty much the exact premise of the other two films. Ras Al Ghul wants to destroy Gotham because it's not worth saving. The Joker wants to Destroy Gotham and will prove it's not worth Saving. Harvey Dent turns on Gotham because it's not worth saving. Bane want's to destroy Gotham. I don't think that kind of story takes over 2 hours to tell. In fact the only real complaints I had about the other films was how they were a bit too long.

Maybe I'm just the 1% on this.

Yeah, Brad, when TDKR comes out, you should stay home. It'll be just another boring Nolan movie, repetitive and overly long...

Huge District 9 Fan Jomo999. I've always been perplexed at how easily it is for Fans to ignore some problems these Batman films. I would love to have an in depth conversation Thread etc to discuss these problems or perceptions etc if anybody would like to start one on a profile or a blog or something or would be interested in proving my perceptions wrong about these films...etc

YES! It's "The epic conclusion to The Dark Knight Legend," so it needs to be long! I would be super-disappointed if this film was 2 hours and 10 minutes or something like that (for many films, that works, though). But as long as everything is gripping, then I definitely don't mind a nearly 3 hour-long film.

no film should run over 70 minutes. The kids check their cell phones every 20 minutes. Moviegoing today is a less than pleasurable experience; UI'm constantly distracted by the little white lights of people texting their friends during the movie.

Get yourself a laser pointer as I have, and when you see that small white light of the cell phone point the laser at it, so they know people are annoyed by it. Works.

Does that really bother you? I find people getting up to use the bathroom and crumpling candy wrappers way more annoying. I don't think I've ever been distracted by another persons cell phone. I always try to get good seats right at the railing that separates the upper and lower seating sections so its hard to see peoples phones anyway. The laser pointer thing is pretty good though!

I wish they'd run some scrolling text at the bottom of the screen during certain parts for movies like this: "Now is a good time to go to the bathroom. Won't miss anything if you're back in 5."

Jun 6 - 11:11 AM

Matanuki

Matanuki .

Hey Janson, smart money says the whole spam thing is just the shtick of a new nemesis to emerge in the community. Just look at the pattern. Pretty much everything that departs from a particular opinion on this film gets slapped with a spam face. You can measure the desperation of it however by the absurdity of its criteria. Something even as trivial as "Be sure to stay cautious!" is guilty.

How old, anyway, is the whole "move out your parent's basement" thing? My advice would be to discover your own personality. And stop your bitching. Because in the end Premo is right, you do look like a deranged villain.

I can dig this, as long as it is engaging and the story can support the heft without feeling bloated. I love a great film that is truly epic in length and scope, and we unfortunately do not get many of those nowadays.

Fine with me. I'd rather the film be long than have them try to cram everything in a shortened timeframe.

It only matters if the movie sucks. I've been in 90 min. movies that felt like 3 hours and I have been in 3 hour movies that flew by. It all depends on the quality. I also saw the 2007 Grindhouse in the theater and it wasn't a problem.
