The inquisitive children of two archeologists exploring a recently-discovered tomb in Shanghai befriend a dragon in search of his magical missing pearl, and embark on an epic adventure to return it before the burial chamber is opened for the first time in centuries. China's landscapes and a strong cast elevate the cheap-looking CGI.
Though it never quite amounts to the classic kids' adventure it aspires to be, Mario Andreacchio's The Dragon Pearl is a thoroughly pleasing and exceedingly well-crafted family film.
