Insidious, Sinister, Cabin in the Woods, Evil Dead, Let Me In, Piranha 3D, Antichrist, Drag Me to Hell, and I liked The Collector, The Collection, The Divide, and Silent Hill: Revelation.

From the past 5 years? I would definitely consider Cabin in the Woods, but it's also partly comedy. My favorite PURE horror film of the last 5 years would have to be either Evil Dead (as the best horror REMAKE in recent memory) or Insidious (as the first ghost movie in recent memory to send chills up my spine).
Apr 13 - 10:50 PM
Cabin in the Woods, hands down. Although Drag Me to Hell was phenomenal.
Apr 13 - 07:39 PM
Drag Me to Hell
Apr 13 - 04:05 PM
Crap i totally forgot about that one it was Great!
Apr 13 - 04:10 PM
I haven't seen every horror film from the last 5 years, but Evil Dead and Cabin in the Woods come to mind first.
Apr 13 - 12:27 PM
Absentia, Lovely Molly, Sinister, Insidious, REC, Inside, Martyrs, Frontier(s)
Apr 12 - 05:40 PM
I have Absentia, Lovely Molly and Martyrs on my "To Watch" list.
Apr 12 - 06:36 PM
Oh man. David, the next film you watch truly needs to be Martyrs. It's one of the most brilliant concepts I have ever seen.
Apr 13 - 06:53 AM
Martyrs seems to be another audience over critic favorite.
Apr 13 - 09:54 AM
That's because many critics classified it as "torture porn." When a horror film is gory and they don't understand the concept, they take the name calling route and dub it "torture porn." It actually makes me sick.
Apr 13 - 10:21 AM
If the movie doesn't revolve around torture, or have extreme scenes of torture, it isn't torture porn. It seems it's the hip thing to call bloody movies nowadays.
Apr 13 - 01:15 PM
I can't really comment on that much further as it significantly pertains to the film's plot. It's much more than your typical torture flick.
Apr 13 - 01:18 PM
Does Pandorum count as a horror movie? That movie exceeded my expectations.
Apr 12 - 03:05 PM
That was a surprisingly decent movie. And yes, I'd classify that as horror.
Apr 12 - 06:41 PM
I would say that it falls into the horror genre just as much as Event Horizon or Prometheus. Although, I really didn't care for Pandorum.
Apr 13 - 06:55 AM
I'm planning on watching Event Horizon for the first time when it arrives via Netflix on Monday. Is it worth watching?
Apr 13 - 07:44 PM
I think it is, yes. It's a fun ride.
Apr 14 - 07:12 AM
Quarantine, The Strangers
Apr 12 - 12:40 PM
I liked The Strangers, but it wasn't anything great. Watch [REC.] and you'll forget allll about shitty Quarantine.
Apr 12 - 01:16 PM
I liked Rec. I liked Quarantine better lol. I know I'm weird. Sometimes I like the overdone, overproduced versions better - like Texas Chainsaw 2003.
Apr 12 - 03:03 PM
Off the top of my head - Evil Dead, Cabin, Sinister, Orphan, Let Me In, The Collector
Apr 12 - 12:34 PM
I forgot let me in. One of the first times a horror film made me cry.
Apr 12 - 01:00 PM
I really enjoyed that one! It stays with you!
Apr 12 - 03:04 PM
Orphan? Come on, man...
Apr 13 - 10:22 AM
to be honest i did not hate orphan. It was not a great horror movie but it had me entertained while i was watching it. its a ok one time watch.
Apr 13 - 10:30 AM
Yeah, I know it's not in good taste, but I also found Orphan to be enjoyable.
Apr 13 - 07:41 PM
Yeah I loved Orphan. Sometimes good acting makes a just okay movie really good. The little girl and Vera Farmiga really sold this flick to me. I loved it.
Apr 13 - 10:03 PM
Maybe I'm close minded, but I just couldn't get past the nonsensical twist ending lol.
Apr 14 - 07:14 AM
House of the Devil, The Loved Ones, Insidious, Innkeepers, and Thirst.
Apr 12 - 11:50 AM
Is Thirst dubbed or if i watch it i have to watch it with subs?
For the exception of Cowboy Bebop, FUCK DUBS. Watch the film in it's original language. You'll have to read subtitles.
Apr 12 - 01:15 PM
Well i will look into it. i watched Seven samurai, throne of blood and Pan's Labyrinth with subs and they were more than wroth it.
Apr 12 - 01:57 PM
Innkeepers was surprisingly good.
Ash J. Gilmore
Evil Dead, Insidious, and The Cabin In The Woods.
Apr 12 - 10:33 AM
Bad Ash J. Gilmore
Also Let Me In and Drag Me To Hell
Apr 14 - 06:27 PM
I N S I D I O U S .
Apr 12 - 09:36 AM
lot of people seem to like that one. to be honest i have not got around watching it yet.
Apr 12 - 12:32 PM
Check it out! It's definitely worth your 100 minutes.
Apr 12 - 02:48 PM
You can't go wrong with James Wan. I love his style as cheesy as it is.
Apr 13 - 06:56 AM
i heard the ending is horrible
Apr 14 - 03:11 PM
Ehhhh it's alright. It's definitely not the best horror but it's enjoyable.
Apr 14 - 03:15 PM
sinister? it was really good til the end as usual with horror movies........its good then it gets dumb.
Apr 12 - 07:12 AM
I really liked the ending. However to each their own.
Apr 12 - 12:35 PM
I liked it too. I don't understand why some people didn't like the ending. What did they expect?
Apr 13 - 10:23 AM
lol i know. The only times i ever really expect to get a great ending is when i watch a Christopher Nolan film.
Apr 13 - 10:28 AM
That's a tough one... Probably this, Cabin, The Innkeepers, or something out of Japan
Apr 12 - 02:53 AM
Cabin in the Woods maybe? Really there haven't been many good horror movies in the past 5 years
Apr 12 - 02:26 AM
