Im going to say remake, it is what the original wanted to be.

The original, hands down. The remake was terrible.

And there you have two differing opinions co-existing in the same world...and, say, that world didn't even get "blowed up". We both win, and so does democracy - go figure. ;-)

Two opinions existing? I'm scared!

original. The remake lacks the humour and Bruce's manic charm, doesn't grip or scare you at all. I spent the last 10 minutes waiting for it to end.

There wasn't humor in Evil Dead 1, and Ash was kind of a bitch in it.

agreed! But Evil Dead was still good.

The original had no humor. It was meant to be a straight horror flick. Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness were the hilarious ones.

It's a big pet peeve of mine when people say the first one was supposed to be comedy or that this one lacked that supposed comedy. To me, that's like an insult to Sam Raimi.

What remake? I saw a sequel that takes place 30 years after the first

Agreed, based on the callbacks in the new movie (the use of Cheryl's voice for example), I believe this even takes place in the same "universe" as the original.

That said, I prefer the new movie to the original thanks solely to Jane Levy and her performance.

Me to! I love Jane Levy!

Original. Always and forever.

But this new Evil Dead(I don't consider it a remake, more a reboot), was a great addition to the franchise.

4 Pods and a pea. I can't wait for New Evil Deads-
Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead 7, and Army of Darkness Part 2!!! I can't wait and Evil Dead 7 is Evil Dead (2013) and Army of Darkness Part 2 crossover. One last question- Did anyone else see Bruce Campbell after the credits turning his head to the screen saying Groovy? Best Part of the movie!
