An overlong, gestating, and sadistic version of a Murder She Wrote episode, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is all hype, confusing shocking imagery for thrilling storytelling.
Matthew Pejkovic must have a chip on his shoulder the size of New Jersey about goth girls. He can't see past the Goth facade of Salander to the really gritty, compelling aspects of this movie. The fact that Blomqvist and Salander are not the stereotypical 'pretty' Hollywood leading actors makes the film more realistic, not mismatched. You cannot say that the car and motorbike chase near the end wasn't nail-biting! Being contrary does not make you cool. It just means you have a chip on your shoulder about some Goth girl who probably kicked your ass in the past.
