If you can't figure that out by using common sense, I feel bad for you.
Jan 23 - 12:04 PM
I think he means because they both ended without the protagonist surviving.
Jan 23 - 11:37 PM
Angel De Haro
hilarious ..... he is right of course ... but pretty litelaral on this one .. i am still laughing...
Jan 24 - 05:54 AM
AHHHHHHH!!! SPOILER!! I was going to watch Buried, but now...
Jan 24 - 06:50 PM
list is nothing without Deliverance!
Jan 23 - 12:10 PM
Totally agree. Arguably the best survival movie of all time, and probably my personal fave... RT definitely missed it
Jan 23 - 12:22 PM
Absolutely. I was thinking "Where's Deliverance?" and where's "Jeremiah Johnson"? when reviewing this list. Good call, Sergio!
Jan 26 - 06:08 AM
This is missing the best survival movie of all time. Higher rated than any of these movies and more remembered. Deliverance. 94% rotten tomato rating. Academy award for best picture and AFI listed. It is also preserved in the national film registry.
Jan 23 - 12:12 PM
u sir, are u in ur senses?
Jan 23 - 12:16 PM
HAVE MERCY! He's reading an earlier version of the list, there must have been a mix-up.
Jan 23 - 05:09 PM
127 hours, one of the best films ever made. Hard to direct with a man stuck at one place and still make it so interesting. The best survival film. waiting for danny boyle's trance
Jan 23 - 12:19 PM
This list is a joke without the best survival movie ever made EVER: "Dude, Where's My Car?". Their quest to find their car was epic. After all, with no car to deliver pizzas for Mr. Pizzacoli, they couldn't make money, causing them to perish for sure! For shame, RT. For shame!!
Jan 23 - 12:31 PM
no man, w/o TRAP THEM AND KILL THEM, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, CANNIBAL FEROX, MAN FROM DEEP RIVER, and LAST CANNIBAL WORLD (and EATEN ALIVE BY THE CANNIBALS) AND SURVIVE and CYCLONE this list is lost.
Jan 23 - 05:04 PM
I'm going to pretend you aren't responding to what I said.

It ain't white boy day, is it?
Jan 25 - 05:55 PM
It's always white boy day somewhere....keeps the world turning yeah?
Jan 29 - 12:53 AM
Totally agree! If you're not prepared to eat frozen human ass (or cut off a limb - 127hrs) your not trying to survive!
Jan 23 - 12:50 PM
Jan 25 - 05:01 AM
Feb 6 - 02:53 AM
Absolutely. Those were some seriously brutal bear attacks.
Jan 23 - 12:53 PM
Jan 23 - 12:58 PM
RT also forgot these- "The Killing Fields" with 91 %, "The Naked Prey with 82%, "Nowhere In Africa" with 86%, "Apollo 13" with 97%, the 1963 version of Lord Of The Flies" with 100%, "The Pianist" with 96%, "Meek's Cutoff" with 85%, "Jeramiah Johnson" with 93%, "El Norte" with 80%, "The Endurance" with 95% and "Nanook Of The North" with 100% to name a few...

Jan 24 - 05:30 PM
"Deliverance" was already mentioned below so I didn't bother!
Jan 27 - 03:18 PM
There r too many brother but we cant list all of them in top ten na...
Jan 25 - 04:53 AM
The title of this list says the "ten" best survival films and I just found a few that have higher ratings than some of the ones listed- that's all!
Jan 25 - 11:21 AM
The lowest rated one is 72 % of Open Water!
Jan 25 - 11:22 AM
good knowledge, good choices
Jan 26 - 08:30 PM
Some of the others are good picks but Meek's Cutoff isn't a "survival film" in that fits the criteria of this list.
Jan 28 - 07:44 AM
Jan 30 - 01:08 PM
I don't think RT 'forgot' so much as put a few stinkers in place of the awesome flicks you'd mentioned.
Specifically having grown up in Colorado, work and live in Alaska for 3 years, as well as Antarctica for a couple Austral Summers - I'd read 'Into the Wild' and found the main character a total ignoramus. How a movie was made in 'homage' of such an ideologue who has NO respect for nature is beyond me.
'Open Water' - what fiction. "loosely based' - even that's a stretch. NO ONE knows what occurred with the portrayed couple. The discussion, non-action was way too long in the tooth.
'Buried' - Seriously? The man did NOTHING extraordinary to prolong his life.
Jan 29 - 12:04 AM
What about "Never Cry Wolf" 1983 or "The Road" 2009?
Jan 23 - 03:53 PM
I totally agree, love that movie, so underated.
Jan 23 - 04:05 PM
Why do people contnually respond to a post listing multiple movies with comments like "Yeah, I loved that movie it was one of my favorites" If you dont specify which movie you are commenting on your post is pointless. And remember what we do here will shape the world to come!
Jan 27 - 05:17 AM
People forget about Never Cry Wolf or haven't heard of it. It deserves to be on the list!
Jan 23 - 03:56 PM
Jan 27 - 05:19 AM
Although "Alive" qualifies it has only got 68% since the title says 'The best survival movies"!
Jan 23 - 04:10 PM
Who cares what the majority of people say. By your account Britney Spears was the best musician of the decade. Alive should be all up in this joint. Critics are supposed to do their job and pull the good from the populist crap.
Jan 27 - 12:52 PM
If you don't care why bring it up since this list is going by the mass of 'paid critics' and not by the majority. I mean "Alive" can be mentioned, but I'm sure RT never forgot about it- just accept the fact that it didn't make it to the top ten.
Jan 27 - 01:02 PM
SEEMS THOSE WHO VOTED HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE , I DONT KNOW WHY INTO THE WILD CONSIDER AS A SURVIVAL MOVIE , MAY BE I AM WRONG , HAVE THE GUY EVER DO SOMTHING TO SURVIVE ??? OR SOCIALLY THAT GUY IS LIKE INSANE IN OTHER WORLD NATURE LOVER
Feb 6 - 02:56 AM
The Edge blows all these away in my opinion.
