"It's one of those things, it's just been tricky," said Peter Farrelly. "The studios all feel like women won't go see it. I don't agree. Dumb and Dumber wasn't a chick flick but eventually women got in there."
Studios are also arguing foreign sales as an issue. "Also, they don't think it's going to be big overseas because no one knows of it but again, no one knew about Dumb and Dumber. It's a hard one but we are going to do it eventually."

on Oct 24 2007 02:16 AM Well I, for one, don't know why everyone's so surprised about all of the remakes and what not... Kids raised on T.V. are gettin' old enough to write and direct movies. They didn't grow up playin' with dirt and hula-hoops and havin' to use their imagination to make it something more than it was. So why would you expect fresh ideas when they can more easily and effortlessly slap a new coat of paint on something they were fond of as a kid? We'll have "The re-interpretation of the re-invention of the re-visited re-make of Freddy Got Fingered" before long. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 05:46 AM Moe, Larry, Curly, and Shemp would be disappointed about this. Why watch a bunch of no-name actors playing as the stooges when I can watch the real deal? You can't beat the originals! (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 07:13 AM Moe: "Get the tools." Larry: "What tools?" Moe: "The same tools, we've been usin for the last 15 years." SLAP!!!! ha ha ha classic shorts (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 08:47 AM Good. The old shorts didn't have enough poop and testicle jokes. Go jump in the fire, Farrelly Brothers. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 09:33 AM I for one am against this. Why? Because the Farrelly's will go ahead and take a classic trio and turn them into mainstream, vulgar trash. These tasteless hacks should go and make gross films without having to use the image of beloved icons. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 04:42 PM In all seriousness, they could get Mel Gibson's prod. house to fund this. He's notorious for being the biggest stooges fan in Hollywood. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 05:40 PM I'm a fan of the Farrelly brothers. I don't have a problem of them attempting to kick start a more modern version of the Stooges. Why do people automatically think that if someone remakes something it's bad, disrespectful, and will ruin the original? It's a HUGE compliment to the original. The worst remake of anything EVER is Puff Daddy's version of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir for Godzilla. I listened to it once and that was it. Never again. It didn't effect how I feel about the original except it made me appreciate it more. The Three Stooges is one of the best things entertainment has ever offered us. No matter what the brothers do, it will not change that. I don't think the Farrelly brothers should do a clean Stooges anyway. You can't top the original. So they should do a version that's edgy. The only thing I ask is to do it with some class and not just go for the "gross out" jokes. This wouldn't just be another movie project. It needs to be handled like Cameron handles his movies. He spends the needed time to get it right. Telling the production companies to piss off. It's done when it's done. Deal with it. A lot of people think the Stooges is a stupid show. These guys were super talented, fantastic writers, very original and it's very difficult to pull off. I'm looking forward to it. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 05:47 PM Benicio del Toro was rumored as Moe and Jeff Daniels was asked to be Larry. But Larry is small and Jeff is not. They could do what Peter Jackson did with the sizing factor with Frodo! Shrink Jeff down a bit. Also I'm a big Shemp fan. They need to do a Shemp too. Del Toro could pull off a Shemp. No clue on the Curly character. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 06:48 PM I heard a rumor ages ago that they wanted Russell Crowe to play Moe. I would never believe he would take the role, but he certainly does look like him in the right light. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 06:53 PM The major problem with this "remake" is that The Three Stooges aren't a movie or a TV show or even a movie based on a TV show. They're actual people (ie. Larry, Moe, Curly &/or Shemp) who created unique comic personas. It's one thing to give a new take on an existing story but quite another to take someone else's comedy act--an act they spent years honing--and call it your own. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2007 09:41 PM I was really hoping for a biographical film focusing on their lives and career. Not brand new "episodes". This idea sucks. (Reply to this) |
on Oct 24 2007 10:39 PM Its great that the Farrelly Brothers keep referencing their best movie, Dumb and Dumber, when they havent done a good comedy since Theres Somethin About Mary which was 10 years ago.Getting anybody to do a Three Stooges movie is just disgracing. (Reply to this) |
