As in many reductive period pieces, there are no real characters here, just archetypes, namely reactionary cretins and sensitive souls who anticipate modern attitudes.
If you can't say something good about "The Help", you need another job. If most of the people who see it like it, it is a success....kind of like a vote..
That is exactly why I don't go by what critics say. They don't represent movie watchers and people need to go see movies for themselves for even coming to this site
Cutesy wording. The problem is that satires like "The Help" have a record of doing serious damage to social problems while North Shore trendiness has never helped anyone.
No real characters? WTH there were so many strong characters in this movie. Viola Davis was amazing as the character of Aibileen. I was so sad for Aibilee. Octavia Spencer was hilarious as Minny and brought some lightness to the movie. Even the character of the white trash woman Celia was well done. I was rooting for her! I loved this movie!

Pretentious review. Get the stick out of your ass. This was a heartwarming, terrifying, and glorious film. It is an instant classic.
