Hobbit, and unexpected blech.

Imagine Michael Bay and George Lucas had a bastard love child on the roller coaster set of The Temple of Doom and Ang Lee's Hulk delivered the baby while a pod race was going on in the background and it was set at the speed of Star Trek the Motion Picture during the scene where they first show the Enterprise..yup...thats this movie.

Wow. About halfway through that blurb, just when I thought you couldn't get any more pretentious... you did.

I suppose if you excluded the fantastic art direction, beautiful scenery, breathtaking sets, brilliant cinematography, intriguing plot, clever dialogue, outstanding characters, nigh-perfect casting, fun action, funny jokes, exceptional special effects, awesome direction, and epic scale, then yes, this film would have very little going for it.

Fantasy movies are the hardest to make and can come off seroiusly riduclous and that is the reason so many do not get made. When George Lucas made the real Star Wars (Not this Episode IV: A New Hope bs, later added on) he had many people that he hired to that changed his world for the better and made him rewrite many of his lousy dialogue lines. Peter when he made Lord of the Rings was gambling so he was forced to make an awesome movie. Ego can get in the way and make someone blind to their own poop. Besides it's just a little kids book

But the star wars prequal's shortcomings can be explained by lucas micromanaging every aspect of production compared to the even spread of creative talent that made the trilogy good.

Peter jackson is working with the same team as before, even the concept artists and special effects team are the same. I think people started drawing these jackson = lucas comparisans long before them film was even relesed simply because they both did prequals.
