Total Recall: Peter Jackson's Best Movies

Summary

No surprises here, folks -- other movies are coming out this week, but it's really all about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and when it came time to figure out who would be the focus of our list, there was only one choice. Yes, we're talking about Peter Jackson, the director whose highly anticipated return to Middle-earth is one of 2012's most eagerly awaited films -- and whose filmography is about so, so much more than hobbits and orcs. From gory comedies to vulgar puppets and beyond, Jackson has displayed one of the most artfully wandering spirits in Hollywood over the course of his career, and it's high time we took a look at the critical highlights. "I kick ass for the Lord!" One of my favorite quotes of all time, from Dead Alive.

King Kong pulled in over $218,000,000 in domestic receipts, and more than $550,000,000 in global receipts.

Surprised King Kong is not on the audience review list, and the Lovely Bones is (which I still love). Disagree with Forgotten Silver being first (is it really a film...). Rings should be top three, then Kong. Great list though, and Jackon makes me proud to be a New Zealander.

If it's popular and makes a lot of money, it can't be as good as some independent documentary no one has ever seen. LOTR is my favorite story of all time and Jackson made a movie worthy of such a great source.

I personally didn't like King Kong for several reasons. It took way too long to get to the island. I think I remember it taking almost 45 mins before they even get to the island, where as the original it's around the 10 min mark. Watching King Kong fighting a t-rex and doing wrestling moves on it was silly. The fight in the original was better, and the fact that Jackson felt he had to "one up" the original by making him fight two t-rex's was silly. The scene where the guy shoots insects off of another guy accurately with a Tommy Gun was silly. Running through dinosaurs stampeding and no one getting stepped on was silly. Jack Black was terrible in this movie and not as good as the guy from the original. Sorry there was just too much silliness and Jack Black ruined the movie for me. I'll stick with the original. Still I loved The Frightners, Meet The Feebles, BrainDead, and Bad Taste...they're all great movies.

Heavenly Creatures looks...creepy. It's on Netflix so I'll probably check it out.

First time I agreed more with the critics then I did with the users on rotten tomatoes. 52% for King Kong? Are you kidding me?

I miss Old Peter Jackson. He made good movies. I'm sure most Peter Jackson Fanboys never heard of most of these.

Great list of movies... But TT best of LOTR, then FOTR, then ROTK. Liked Heavenly Creatures and KK more than most, I guess.

Now if anyone was to remake Godzilla properly then Jackson has to be the man.
