Are you excited?

Seeing how the first Hobbit got a somewhat divided reaction from people, I'm curious to know what everyone's expectations for the this movie is.

Excited for: Mirkwood, Beorn, Smaug's design, Bilbo and Thorin's character arcs, Gandalf not saving the dwarves every five seconds due to his business with the Necromancer, Gandalf's business with the Necromancer, Lake Town, etc.

Not excited for:
Tauriel, occasional cheesey CGI

I liked the first one. It was slow, but I didn't mind. The dwarves, the council meeting, and the trolls didn't bother me at all. However, I wasn't too thrilled with the stone giant part. That was a little too over the top for me. I fast forward through that part when I watch it on dvd. As for part two, yes I am very excited. December can't come fast enough for me.

I think this will be faster paced than An Unexpected Journey.

Not excited past Smaug. They've done too much damage to the story I love so much for me to enjoy it. I've just been outraged at times. Too much money grubbing. & Jackson has obviously forgotten who created these stories & thinks he did. SOO dissapointing.

Add Albino Kratos (Azog) to not excited for list, unless that's under the cheesy CGI category xD

Azog is an addition that doesn't bother me really. They just need to improve his design. And isn't Kratos already albino?

Ehhhh...I guess I never saw him as white as Azog was :P
As for Azog being in this film, I don't mind the role he played, but I wished that Jackson would have stayed closer to the source material by making it Azog's son Bolg. But oh well.

Was looking through the cast list on Wikipedia, and apparently a 7'1 Australian wrestler/actor has been cast as Bolg. This makes me curious how exactly they're going to fit him in the next two movies. Perhaps Azog will come to his kingdom in the Misty Mountains and ask for help in catching Thorin, or we might not see him till the Battle of Five Armies.

They've already released pictures of Bolg. He is definitely making an appearance.

Of course I'm excited. We've reached the meat of the story now and that's definitely where things get interesting.
