The Hunger Games has epic spectacle, yearning romance, suspense that won't quit and a shining star in Jennifer Lawrence.

Absolutely. Travers is the reviewer I most trust, and that was the case even before I became aware of RT. He's got great articulation, so you can get a good feel for a movie, but he's also got somewhat everyman taste. He's a real movie lover, not a film snob. I don't always agree with him, but he's a great starting point.

Glad to know he read the books, too. In spite of what some critics seem to think about fans, fans of original books are frequently the harshest critics.

Finally, an educated and thorough review addressing every aspect of the film. Well done, sir.

I've been waiting for Travers' review as well, usually if he, Michael Phillips and Roger Ebert all like something, you can guarantee it'll be good, and they all like this movie!

I approve of this message, most because of the severe bashing dished out to the entire Twilight franchise.

I don't normally care for Travers, but this is actually the most thorough review I've read so far, and the fact that he's read the books (and sounds like a fan) gives his opinion a little more weight in my eyes. Good review.

And the fact that he gave props to aspects we haven't heard about so much in these reviews, like the cinematography.

Nice to see that Travers has read the trilogy. Great review.

you lost me at "yearning romance"
that's not supposed to be a theme, period

Peeta's the one with the yearning romance, thus it is a theme.

I can't believe that someone just said, apparently straight-faced, that "adjective + romance" can't be the theme of a movie. Period, no less. Someone's going to be missing out on both a lot of reviews and movies, then.
