Critic Review - Toronto Star

The lack of character shading suggests Marvel Studios went too far in distancing itself from Lee's much-reviled predecessor. Could a better balance between brawn and brains not have been struck?

It could have been, but sadly Edward Norton's character development additions to the script were cut out by Marvel in favor of a fully action oriented movie.

Editing may have been the culprit, but in this guys case his disliking for it was just plain lack of imagination.
