Non-Spoilery "Incredible Hulk" Plot Synopsis
by Scott Weinberg | May 31, 2007
Discuss Article
Looking forward to the next "Hulk" movie? I sure am, what with all the cool casting announcements and the promise of a lot more action. We recently came across an "Incredible Hulk" plot synopsis of sorts...

Official plot breakdown: "Upon returning to civilization, our brilliant doctor is ruthlessly pursued by The Abomination -- a nightmarish beast of pure adrenaline and aggression whose powers match The Hulk's own. A fight of comic-book proportions ensues as Banner must call upon the hero within to rescue New York City from total destruction. And on June 13, 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice -- accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or the creature he could permanently become: The Incredible Hulk."

Sounds good enough for me. We already got the drama version, so now let's get to the mayhem! (And no poodles.) Plus we've got Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, and Tim Roth.

I thought the first movie wasn't that bad once you finally got down to the point, but this new direction with the franchise is shaping up to be one hell of an event. I was happy to see that poodle die.

Hulk ?
Will the hulk be cgi again,or will it be an actor in a suit like the thing in fantastic four?I understand pieces of it will be cgi, whats a movie like this with out it ,im just wondering if the hulk will be completley cg like the first.

from what i've heard, the hulk will be entirely of cgi. i'm not a comic nerd so i can't remember who invented the character, but he(or one of the people directly involved with this) is VERY adament about keeping the actual character freakish. you can't have an actor run 300 mph, or jump 3 miles...which is what the guy can apparently do when he's p2ssed. 'gain, can't remember who exactly said it but they will NOT be doing a tv show kind of Hulk.

still wish Bana was Banner...

American History X squared?
We know Ed Norton can bulk up (as he did in American History X)....I know this will never happen, but how awesome would it be if Norton shot all his Bruce Banner scenes first, then crash gained 150 pounds of pure muscle to get into the Hulk makeup and costume? No CGI, just pure old-fashioned method acting!!
Either way, I still thought the Ang Lee movie was great. This has potential to be good, too, although probably in a different way.

It's not gonna be like that.... at least I hope not. With all these good choices being made for the movies, I doubt they'll do something like that. Then again, it might not be COMLETELY CGI, but nothing like the thing in FF4.

God, that would be awful. Fortunately, it's going to be CGI and animatronics.

I think they captured Hulk in the first movie perfectly and that was, what, 3-4 years ago? Look at shrek, how it looks now and how it looks in shrek 2... I believe they will do an awesome job with CGI Hulk. I'll stay confident for now.

The first Hulk was terrible. Bana was actually hilarious as the Hulk and the excessive dialog plagued the movie. This new movie should be great and a good rejuvenation for the franchise. And a CG Hulk would the ONLY choice. The Thing in Fantastic Four looks so chessey and they would never have a costume Hulk. The first Hulk looked so real and I can only imagine what they can do now!

I hope you're joking, because 150 pounds of muscle is impossible. He gained maybe 30 pounds of muscle for American History X.

And the Hulk is way too big for any actor to portray without CGI. And don't give me that 70s TV show junk. They've already said he'll be like 8-9 feet tall.

CGI all the way hopefully. That's how big the Hulk is supposed to be. Thing looks terrible. I'm a proponent for using costumes, puppets and animatronics when you can, but Hulk isn't one of these cases.

I agree with a CGI Hulk all the way. I really wish they would have done a full CGI Thing in FF. They did an incredible job with the CGI in Hulk, far better than could ever be accomplished with a strong guy in body paint or a rubber suit. It would be so much better if the Thing was more stylized/massive like in the comics.

Well, I can understand why they opted for a suit instead of CGI in the case of Ben Grimm, since he's not nearly as big and bulky as Hulk.

I thought the CGI in the first one was awful, actually. It looked like a badly rendered video game character dropped into a live action film. Hopefully they can do better this time, but i have my doubts. For some reason CGI doesn't really seem to be improving the way a lot of other special effects techniques do. Jurassic Park from back in '95 had better organic surface texturing than most of what comes out today, it's very strange.

I've said it so many times before, you can do a cool, monstrous character w/o CGI. I know LXG to most was a lukewarm film, but, look at Mr. Hyde. His character wasn't CGI. It was the real actor who also played Dr. Jekyll, but, in a suit. And, look at how real that looked. So, why can't they just do that for the Hulk. IMO, they made the Hulk way to "massive" so to speak, in the first one.

In reply to thread above, I do agree, None cgi can work, LXG hyde was great.
BUT, Look at Ben (the Thing from fantastic four) He totally should have been CGI. He looks like the dog chewed up the sponge in my sofa.

The Hulk and Abomination will have far too much screen time to be a man in green latex. Look also at the original Ninja turtles film. Rubber stands out a mile, and bad rubber is just as bad as Bad cgi, if not worse!

Did you see the 1994 Thing? He looks shittier. And I agree. No CGI for a character would be fine if they had little screen time, but we're talking about the hero and the villain of The Incredible Hulk. They're gonna have loads of screentime.
