William Hurt to Battle "The Incredible Hulk"
by Scott Weinberg | June 14, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
If it's not "Iron Man" adding some more casting muscle, it's "The Incredible Hulk."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, four-time Oscar nominee (and one-time winner) William Hurt has joined the cast of Louis Leterrier's "Hulk" project. He'll be joining Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, and Tim Roth in the Zak Penn-written movie.

Looks like Mr. Hurt will be playing General "Thunderbolt" Ross, and I know you comic book fans know what that means...

William Hurt won an Oscar for his work in "Kiss of the Spider Woman." He was also nominated for "Children of a Lesser God," "Broadcast News," and "A History of Violence." Production on "The Incredible Hulk" begins next month in Toronto.

What!?! Sam Elliot was perfect in that role!!! He was the only good thing about the original AND Ghost Rider.

There was nothing good about Ghost Rider.

And another thing... are you going to see the Hulk movie to see General Ross?? No... you're going to see the hulk and abomination tear a city down... so chiil out. Who the eff cares who's playin Gen. Ross.

This is interesting. Perhaps the producers of Spiderman 4 should be watching, because here you have a franchise completely re-casting every role. If it's a success, maybe we'll see Spiderman change hands too?

Tim Roth, Edward Norton, and William Hurt? Is Marvel trying to be Oscar worthy now?

Fair enough about Ghost Rider although Sam did look LESS out of place and did a better job making his crappy dialog believable than the rest of the cast.

As for Ross I do care because as cool as Hulk and Abomination are neither of them are big talkers which means Betty and Gen. Ross are going to have to carry large portions of the dialog for the film. Plus I'm a little anti-William Hurt after he got an Oscar nod for his 10 minute laughably accented role in A History of Violence.

Sam Elliot did do a good job in the first but Hurt will do a sweet job I'm sure. This movie has amazingly become something I'm really looking forward to.
