on Mar 13 2008 05:44 AM Way to go, Norton. I for one am looking forward to it. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 13 2008 06:10 AM In reply to this comment (#1630096) I'll tell ya what though, Elixor. It'll be nice if this thread doesn't turn into a circus like some of the stuff I'm seeing over at aol. Mention Obama there, and here come the racists with their "don't vote for the monkey" rants. 2008 and folks are still living in the stone age (with apologies, of course, to the actual stone age). ;-) (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 06:48 AM I'm Glad to hear this. I'd even goe see this in theaters. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 07:48 AM More propaganda. Obama who has no ideas, just alot of "hope" and "change" talk. Thinking people need not apply. Emotion only campaign. That's what liberalism is anyways. All emotion. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 07:55 AM Then why aree the educated people the ones voting for him? (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:03 AM Not only do I look like Ed Norton, I also think like him! Weird. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:08 AM In reply to this comment (#1630188) lol. Nicely put. And a fair question. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:31 AM Not to sound ageist, but isn't he a bit too young for a documentary? I mean yeah he's been a senator, but you'd have a tough time doing a 2 hour film about the latest filibuster, unless it's going to be just one of those documentaries "on the road with Barack" where they document his campaign. That's kinda what I'm hoping for, cause really anything other than that just really doesn't interest me at this point. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:33 AM Jacketman, Perhaps the educated have read The Audacity of Hope, which is impressive in scope and, like virtually everything else Obama does, inspiring. One thing he keeps returning to is the idea that partisan scuffling has completelty gotten in the way of what politics should be: the gathering of qualified people to intelligently solve problems. Sarge77, Obama has plenty of ideas. My guess is that you haven't checked him out thoroughly, which is not suprising, since the media doesn't do him justice -- and for its buzz-word, blurb-obsessed structure, simply can't. Donwillymo, you can't possibly be serious. You must just be trying to get a rise out of people. Tell me you are. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:35 AM P.S. To Jacketman, I agree that your question is hilarious! : ) (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:43 AM So, Ed Norton is first of the mark with an Obama documentary. Oprah must be totally pissed! (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 10:15 AM Too bad it'll be out too late for potential Obama voters in this election. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 10:59 AM I'm there. Sounds great! (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 11:29 AM In reply to this comment (#1630101) I hear ya Matanuki. I think (and hope) that a lot of those people are saying such things just to get a rise out of people, which is what a lot of people like to do on BBs. A lot of those people probably were original AOL members, which at first (not so much anymore) was the Stone Age of internet access ;) It was just terrible, easy to use, but really poor access and service. In general I wish that we didn't have all the classifications of who's voting for who and that media analysts didn't spend so much time covering such things. All this should be meaningless if you're a rational thinker and are interested in voting for the way you want your government to be run. How about covering campaign material or digging into and comparing candidates similarities and differences on their proposed plans?! All we hear about is who's voting for who, and get regurgitated campaign propaganda from all sides. A little too much talk on politics, sorry. I do think that this could be a good documentary, especially if Obama gets nominated for President. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 13 2008 11:29 AM In reply to this comment (#1630169) whatevs man. another old white guy? no thanks (Reply to this) |

on Mar 13 2008 12:25 PM In reply to this comment (#1630173) You do realize that the overall stand of the conservative republican party is based on feeling, correct. The Trickle down effect of businesses first only works properly if the employer who gets all these tax breaks and extra profit FEELS like sharing with the employees, but he is not obligated to do so. And maybe some emotion is needed since we are almost done with 8 years of a mindless idiot who has no real emotion or real care about the majority of people he is supposed to be leading. Emotion is definitly a plus because maybe strong emotion will keep the next president from lying to the people and giving false reasons for sending our brothers and sisters to die over BullS**t. on Mar 13 2008 12:57 PM In reply to this comment (#1630101) @Matanuki: I don't think your stone age reference applies; I'd hazard a guess that stone-age people weren't so shallow or closed-minded as that. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 01:00 PM In reply to this comment (#1630459) lol. Well yeah, hence the apology to the stone-age. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 13 2008 01:40 PM In reply to this comment (#1630173) "More propaganda. Obama who has no ideas, just alot of "hope" and "change" talk. Thinking people need not apply. Emotion only campaign. That's what liberalism is anyways. All emotion." I consider myself politically independent, although with some clearly liberal social views, and I also tend to prefer logical arguments over emotional pleas, but I think Obama's a pretty impressive political figure. If he were just an inspirational speaker, then that wouldn't be enough, but if you read his analyses of most things, he's got a pretty rational and thoughtful take one them. And as far as suggesting that liberalism is less rational than conservatism, I'd ask this: which side tends to be less open to evidence? I've seen and voted for plenty of conservatives who seemed to be independent thinkers, but if I had to generalize, liberals tend to be more open to going against their emotions and with what objective evidence suggests is best. I know I'm totally generalizing, as there are many liberals who wouldn't know what logic was if you asked them, but still I see the overall balance tipping toward liberals. And as far as basing the campaign on inspiring people to be hopeful and about change, what's going to be more effective: trying to do great things from the top down or inspiring the citizens to do great things, making the country better from the bottom up? That actually seems like a conservative principle to me, and I think it's great. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 13 2008 09:05 PM I had always been interested in the daily life of a racist communist. Can't Wait!!! Ron Paul 08'(I don't care if Mccain already has the nomination.) (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:10 PM Barack Obama is only in his position because he is black. Although he is well-spoken, he lacks any experience or credentials to warrant a presidential bid. He has been extolled by the media based on the fact that he is black. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:15 PM P.S Agniyo is a naive sheep. Audacity of Hope is insanely vague idiotic rhetoric that sounds like the sayings of Lenin and Trotsky. Liberals are communists. P.S.S Does anyone care about illegal immigration!? (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 09:27 PM When you don't like someone and you are conservative its all 'emotion'. Books are amazing. Reading them is even better. Ignorance tends to be overrated. Hugs are amazing too. I am looking forward to the documentary. Documentaries are also amazing. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 13 2008 10:35 PM wow, can't wait to see the documentary about our next president:) i wonder if norton will be asked to run as his vice... imagine Obama/Hulk 08' "Change, yes we can...OR HULK SMASH!!!" (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 12:27 AM aye, the guy hasn't held any office of importance yet (senator with no legislative distinctions) and they already have a documentary in the works? I understand why people like Obama, i just don't get the love affair. I will not see this in the theaters. Ed Norton should make a documentary on someone who HAS impacted history, like hmmm... Oppenheimer, Jefferson or Polk. IF he wins the race, and actually does what he says he will (and the countries better for it), maybe then make a documentary. Otherwise its going to end up being 2 hours of inspirational speeches and sappy hope filled interviews with no conclusive binding. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 05:12 AM This just might be good. ESPECIALLY IF OBAMA WINS! (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 05:43 AM Anyone see the video of Obama's preacher? Man, that dude's a Racist. And, Obama's economic plan just released? 1 trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000) tax increase to Americans over the next 10 years. Anybody that votes for this man needs their heada examined. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 14 2008 06:08 AM In reply to this comment (#1631748) Thank you darth. Those are the kind of facts that people like to ignore all in the name of "change". In the midst of a looming regression everyone seems to want to put people in office who will take even more money away from us all. But he gives great speeches! (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 09:36 AM In reply to this comment (#1631776) UG Then How the heck do you expect to pay for universal health Amo !!! We'll whine about health care and every thing else but when it comes down to it we are greedy greedy people who wont give a dollar more to help someone EVEN when it helps us too. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 10:22 AM It's not just health care. It's also creating millions of new jobs and working towards a stronger and hopefully more green economy. Granted this is a huge amount of taxes, but where it comes from and where it goes is what's important. At least Obama is releasing his plans. That's one thing that I really like about him is how he's working towards transparency in the government, which is the first step in cutting fat and exposing corruption (or at least making it harder to hide). This could really hurt him though as it will give fodder to the Clintons and McCain camps. I suppose some people are happy just racking up two to three times that amount in debt just on the war in Iraq, which is one of the big reasons why the dollar is going to be so weak (the debt) and why we're heading for a recession. Maybe we should just stay status quo with the present regime and keep losing not only jobs to other countries, but our wages, and what our money is worth. That's a much better plan. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 07:13 PM If we vote for him we need our head examined????? Thats a childish and brainless reply.....thanks. I am all for the increase. Our national debt is out of control. We have so many things we need. Where is it going to come from?? Clintons plan probably won't be much different. But McCain will cut taxes. Yay. The money will trickle down to me from all the rich folk any day now. Any day now. Any day now. I don't know who I am voting for yet. I can't make up my mind. I won't let 1 issue dominate that decision though. Gonna have to weigh them all objectively. I think the documentary will work out well even if he loses. If he loses he is going to be an important politician and figure still. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 14 2008 10:27 PM There is nothing appealing about obama to anyone of the the middle class or above. Any white person who is moderately successful is only voting for obama because of white guilt. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 15 2008 03:15 AM In reply to this comment (#1630659) What accomplishments did Kennedy have before he became President? His dad was a bootlegger and his boat got sunk during WWII. Hardly a glowing resume', but he got a ton of stuff done when he got into office and when you really think about it a President is not doing everything for his country. He's appointing people to accomplish goals in line with what he thinks is best for the country and is the face of America to the rest of the world and being "Only) Charismatic and inspirational would seem to be two pretty good qualities to have to complete that job. Not that I think Obama is only those things and I say this as someone who fully intends to vote for McCain. I think we are fortunate this election that we have a chance for a rare win-win. No matter who gets elected it won't be a disaster for the others who didn't vote for that guy. (Reply to this) |

No matter who gets elected it won't be a disaster for the others who didn't vote for that guy." Well said. I think they are two good, smart, thoughtful guys. It's been rough watching McCain do the necessary pandering to the hard right at times during the primaries, but I think he's a great guy and would make a fine president--even though I'll probably vote for Obama. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 17 2008 11:41 AM In reply to this comment (#1636511) Yeah, I'm a Navy guy and a conservative leaning independant so McCain is pretty much my boy, but I'm keeping an open mind until the debates start between the two. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 07 2008 11:09 AM This could be interesting cinema, whatever the outcome of Senator Obama's presidential campaign. 1992's "The War Room" was a fascinating documentary that really put you behind the scenes of a presidential campaign. Whatever one's opinion of Bill Clinton, it serves as a great time capsule of 1992, as well as just an interesting study in modern political warfare. (Reply to this) |
