Movie Info

Gingy McAnally (Anthony Brophy) wanted out of the IRA and so took his wife and kids south to live quietly in a trailer. But as the terrorist battles in 1983 Northern Ireland were raging, he couldn't stay hidden from his colleagues for long. They inform him that since he is their only rocket launcher that they will not let him leave. If he does, his family will be harmed. His assignment is to kill a British judge; should he refuse, he can kiss his wife and kids goodbye. Though strongly against the plan, Gingy agrees. During the hit, Gingy is spotted by British lieutenant David Ferris (Cary Elwes). He has Gingy arrested and sent to the ruthless Chief Inspector Rennie (Timothy Dalton) for interrogation. Rennie has a deep hatred of the IRA and shows no mercy, telling Gingy that he faces 25 years in prison if he doesn't start talking. It's a terrible decision, but eventually Gingy decides to betray the IRA, and he starts naming names. He and his family are moved to a safe house, but they are far from that. It doesn't help that his own wife begins having serious doubts about a man who would inform upon his colleagues. A tense and serious drama that offers a fairly objective view of both sides of the endless Irish conflict.more
