Critic Review - Paste Magazine

Although Henckel von Donnersmarck has a number of genuinely good ideas ... the film is marred by redundancy, indecision and clumsiness.

Are you really working in a magazine? Honnestly can't believe that you couldn't appreciate a movie like this...

Good people of the Rotten Tomato! Robert Davis - the esteemed critic as you are all well aware (I'm sure) - has clearly made an accurate and insightful review of the movie Das Leben der Anderen. I applaud those such as Davis who have the talent and visionary genius to peer beneath the obvious veneer of wasted script and reveal this movie for what it really is - a clumsy, redundant, indecisive, piece of hog wash! Mr. Davis...from now on please send your crappy, pretentious, nonsensical critiques directly to: reviews@robertdavisisthebiggestd-bagintheworld.com :)

What he calls redundant, an intelligent screenwriter may label as symbolism. Also, who wants to take the advice of a writer who lists "Indian Jones and the Crystal Skull" as is one of his personal faves. This film won the Oscar for best foreign. Guess what, at the end of this film, aliens don't arrive.
