Not only was it not directed by Tarantino, but it was his friend Eli Roth who produced it, not Tarantino himself. QT simply EXECUTIVE produced it, which basically means dropped by and made sure the producer was doing his job from time to time.

QT will put his name on anything Eli Roth makes just because he is a friend, which is a shame; Eli Roth makes terrible movies. It doesn't help that directors (e.g. RZA) try to imitate QT but fail at doing so, which only reflects negatively on QT.
