In The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists 3D, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain - a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. It's the attention to detail that really shivers the timbers.

Audience Reviews for The Pirates! An Adventure With Scientists
As the story continued, however, it went from whimsically odd to outright absurd. The Pirate of the Year storyline was fabulous, but when a hideously wretched Queen Victoria was introduced as a devourerer of rare animals, my opinion of the film began to change.
By the end of the movie I had made up my mind never to add the dvd to my collection, and yet there are still so many redeeming qualities. I feel the bizarre plotline let down an otherwise worthy project. My five year old daughter seemed to enjoy it, but I felt that much of it went over her head. Definitely one for the satirical adult viewer.
