I can see why someone wouldn't like it. Honestly, it was all about the performances. Without Gosling's and Williams' powerful acting, it would've been a mediocre indie flick. That's just my opinion. The Place Beyond the Pines, though, looks fantastic.

Not trying to hate on the Blue Valentine party, but it was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. The Place Beyond The Pines sounds great though, that's a story I will pay $13 for.

Blue Valentine was a decently put together film with a fantastic cast and fantastic direction. This one will be even better, I'm sure; Darek Cianfrance has matured.

Blue Valentine was certainly difficult to watch, but that's what made it so unique and realistic. It's not going to go easy on it's viewers because real life and real relationships aren't easy or at all too romantic. It's a great film, and if you don't like it's fine and I can see why. But I don't think it was a 'pile of shit' at all.
