Movie Info

Filmed in late 1935, the Tim McCoy western The Prescott Kid didn't get a New York booking until October of 1936, by which time McCoy had moved from Columbia to Puritan Pictures. McCoy plays Tim Hanlin, aka the Prescott Kid, who trails a gang of cattle rustlers from Arizona to Mexico. Assumed to be a thief himself, Hanlin is very nearly lynched but manages to wriggle out of this and several subsequent perils. Sheila Manners, decked out with a synthetic Spanish accent, co-stars as Dolores, while Alden Chase is a better-than-usual villain. Way down the cast list as a stagecoach driver is Walter Brennan, who by the time that Prescott Kid premiered in New York, had already finished his Oscar-winning performance in Goldwyn's Come and Get It.more
