A French science fiction animation comes in the form of The Prodigies, from Antoine Charreyron.Coming in at just under 90 minutes, the story behind The Prodigies comes up light. The concept of the film starts off well, but things quickly become rushed as characters don't get enough buildup, all the while the story keeps pushing along; probably why the run time is as short as it is.Not exactly going for top notch graphics, this animation still delivers visually. The stylized action sequences are amusing and the more adult oriented material and violence help to hide the flaws in the writing.There isn't much to fault in the voice acting, although some of the major characters say very little when compared to others. For the most part it is Jeffrey Evan Thomas providing most of the dialogue.While The Prodigies does hold the potential to be a fantastic movie, it never fully matures into one. Still, it is a watchable animation for older audiences.

Plot and Story -> Animation.

The Prodigies features quite a few disturbing scenes, and I'm not easily disturbed. However, it's equally boring as it is disturbing. The basic premise of troubled teens having telekinetic powers has been over-done, and The Prodigies offers nothing new. The characters aren't interesting at all, the same story has been told many times, and the CGI visuals - which should be the high point of this movie - would have worked equally well is this were a traditional animated film. The average Anime movie is a couple of levels above The Prodigies, in every aspect. This film simply does not deliver.

Not bad, but those subtitles are garbage. Only watch the movie if you understand French.

The original book was a wonder, this movie isn't. The animation is quite ugly, even if after a few moment, eyes adjust about it, but the characters are not credible, without any feelings. Some images are very good though, but it's not enough to be considered as a good animation movie. It would better so way better with real actors.

A French attempt at the "Incredibles" + cel-shaded WindWaker-style animation = I want to see.
