Over ten years in the making, Pure One (or Pakeezah as it was originally titled in India) is the melodramatic tale of the downfall of a North Indian courtesan involved in a tragic relationship with a wealthy young man. It is also an homage to director Kamal Amroshi's alcoholic wife, the noted actress Meena Kumari who died shortly after Pakeezah's completion. Pakeezah is one of the Movies I first had my doubts and thought this would be a "Nikaah" sort of Movie, but I was very surprised, Pakeezah was nice to watch.
