Man of Steel is a Dark Knight rip off too! I know because some fukktard on here said it

What are you talking about? I'm pointing out the fact that you missed obvious sarcasm.
Jun 9 - 08:18 AM
This is not a steal from The Strangers. That's like saying The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a steal from The Exorcist.
May 31 - 07:41 AM
You haven't even seen the movie yet, so....who are you to say the movie is just a rip off of the strangers? Maybe you should save your assumptions until after the movie is released ;)
May 29 - 05:51 PM
I saw the trailer for "You're Next" right before this one in the theater and I was like "wait, didn't I already see a trailer for that?"
May 29 - 09:03 AM
The Strangers isn't the first home invasion movie. It's a subgenre of other horror movies. Plenty of home invasion flicks before The Strangers came out. This is just an addition...

You critique the originality of this flick which is interesting when considering that originality is not a common theme in the horror genre, let alone slasher/home invasion off shoots. Interestingly, you claim this film is going to be the Strangers II because it takes place in a house and the killers, which you presume to be strangers when it is probable that this is not the case, don freaky masks (which if you notice in the trailer, they do not use the masks all the time... a minor difference). You raise interesting points about how there are similarities between the two films, but you clearly overlook Hollywood's tradition of borrowing from other sources. I did not think of the Strangers at all when I saw the trailer. Instead, it evoked a reflection on Panic Room, another home invasion thriller where a safe space isn't as safe as expected. Also, The Purge appears to earn its title from the circumstances that lead up to the terrors the family endures in their home. I find film's like this more engaging than the grand scale chaos you were hoping for, but I can understand the disappointment you express. What puzzles me is how you attack the film (which you haven't even seen yet) for being unoriginal when, as mentioned before, originality is not a Hollywood staple. Masks in horror, for example, are not new. I can't speak for everyone when I say I don't sense very much originality at the helm here. That said, it looks freaky and like a flick I'd enjoy, so...

Are you kidding me? The only comparison is that the strangers wear masks in both films...You haven't even seen this movie yet to compare the two. Just please stay away from horror movies you obviously don't have a very open mind to anything. There are 2 different plots...and if you can' see that then don't even post anything on here you aren't educated enough to know the difference.

did you even watch my video, I laid it out. People trapped in a house being hunted. hell even one of the 2 reviews already onlines states the same damn thing. He called it DieHard with the Strangers. They don't even show the fucking Purge in the movie. The whole fucking movie takes place in a house.
May 26 - 05:17 PM
Nah, you obviously didn't watch my video either. I stated the whole fucking movie is them in a house being hunted only in the house. Purge my ass. It is a strangers house being hunted LOW Budget movie.
May 26 - 05:18 PM
Oh, then I guess The Strangers is a rip-off of the original Halloween and When a Stranger Calls, right?
May 30 - 01:48 PM
Halloween takes place in one house the whole movie. nah go watch it again, dumbass.
Jun 4 - 12:27 AM
And so does The Purge, according to you. So...you basically just said that you agree with me. Nice job, "dumbass."
Jun 5 - 04:11 PM
When a Stranger Calls also does not take place in one house. A movie doesn't have to use everything in order to qualify it as 'borrowing' or 'ripping off.' Strangers borrows from Friday the 13th as well, what with the kind of mask the head guy wears. I'm starting to think you hail Strangers as this amazingly original piece of work. The flick is good and scary but it is far from original.

To say this is a ripoff of The Strangers is to say that was just as bad as this waste of time is...it's like comparing apples to, well...rotten tomatoes...lol! I was able to predict each and every "plot twist", and could've slept through half of it and STILL know what happened. The one and only surprise was that the (spoiler alert if you even care at this point) father dies instead of the mother...that would've made more sense considering how much $ daddy dearest made off the purge and how much he supported it, but who am I but a lowly moviegoer? The catharsis would have convinced me to at least rate it 1 star, but not in the sad shape it's currently in...

Even though I agree with what you have to say, I had to read it 3 different times. Grammar check, bro.
