Critic Review - Boston Globe

Call it the Robert Downey Jr. Meets Sherlock Holmes Effect. A classic popular adventure gets overblown, juiced-up, and generally CGI-ified.

Listen here; one, Robert downey Jr was amazing in Sherlock Holmes and the movie was outstanding. He did Doyle proud. Two, this movie was fantastic. The action was great, the romance was sweet. I was in love from the beginning. You are entitled to your opinion but this movie was great. And the open ending gave it a possible sequel, which I'm sure would be equally as good.

Sherlock Holmes was far from outstanding. Fun? Yes. Great? Not quite.

This movie was tour de shite. Differance between this and Downey in Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock was directed well and had really good acting in it. Even if you didn't like the extra bit of boom in SH it was still SH. 3 musketeers had worse acting and casting than the 90's candy bar commercials.

Guy Ritche did nothing but improve upon Sherlock Holmes, the difference with this movie is Paul Anderson is a very bad director (excluding Event Horizon of Course), and the movies plot is much more over the top than Sherlock Holmes plot was.

Basil Rathbone is the only Sherlock Holmes for me :)
RD Jr. Did did a good job in the Sherlock Holmes adaptation, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
