This was based on a true story. It makes me appreciative to live in the good ole US of A.

Decent movie that tends to overstay it's welcome at a 1 hour and 52 mins it feels too long.

A fine, unremarkable social issue drama that looks unflinchingly at the cruelties of sex trafficking, The Whistleblower has its moments when it is remarkably compelling only because the material is tough to watch. While it attempts to wring ethical questions out of its hero's predicament, anyone with half a moral compass would find the character's choices obvious.
Rachel Weisz has done better American accents in her other work, and that's about the extent of my criticism of her work here. She's good, but there's little extraordinary about her performance.
Overall, as social issue dramas go, this one is good but nothing profound.

Smutny i przejmujacy film, miejscami drastyczny. Ukazujacy brutalna prawde i realia Europy Zachodniej o ktorych czesto nie chcemy wiedziec. Wojna to dobry biznes, a pod oslona ONZ wrecz kopalnia zlota.

A drama based on the experiences of Kathryn Bolkovac, a Nebraska cop who served as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and outed the U.N. for covering up a sex scandal.

Only 71% of "Rotten Tomatoes" audience liked this movie, but I thought it was the most impactful I have ever seen. Makes you question the progress/evolution of humanity, certainly of our institutions of justice. See it and judge for yourself!

"Strong central performance by Rachel Weisz as Kathy Bolkovac, she's really good in these types of roles (The Constant Gardner & Enemy at the Gates). The Whistleblower is a solid real-story movie. Inspired by actual events and events that sighs, still happens today: human sex trafficking."

(2010) The Whistleblower
POLITICAL THRILLER/ POLITICAL SOCIAL COMMENTARY
Movie based on fact exposing the corruption that exists within UN peacekeepers involvement in human trafficking. Starring Rachael Weiss as police officer wanting a better paid position than what she is doing, so she takes up a better paying job as a UN Peacekeeper to provide for her only daughter.

Larysa Kondracki is the woman that directs this movie, the first one of her career, she didn't direct the movie that well, she just did an okay job but she didn't direct a movie that I was able to like. Rachel Weisz takes the lead role, she did a very good job, I usually hate women who play cops, that just doesn't seem right, but Rachel was amazing at that, I was starting to like her role even more while the movie developed, she was the highlight of the movie, the movie itself is bad but she's the only thing that leaves me comfortable saying that this movie has a very good thing in it, wich was Rachel's acting, it wasn't outstanding or something, but I might say that without her in here, this movie would might be a failure, I don't think she deserves an Oscar or something, I'm just saying that she was really good here, trust me, Rachel is known from Dream House, Agora, Envy, The Constant Gardener, The Fountain and some other movies. Monica Belluci was at least in my opinion, untalented, people can call her pretty how many times they want, but they can't say that she had a good acting in this movie, I definitly think it wasn't because of her rusty voice, I just felt right away that her perfomance sucked, Monica is known from The Sorcere's Apprentice, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions and some other movies. Vanessa Redgrave is just fine here, nothing more than that, Vanessa is known from Howards End, Mission: Impossible, Blow-Up, Deep Impact and some other movies. Sow, as you can see, this movie's cast is just okay, at least Rachel was picked cause she had a great perfomance, the cast is not the perfect cast that you would like in a movie of this type, but whathever, at least they Weiszd it. Good cast.
Kathryn Bolkovac (Rachel Weisz) is an American cop who's sent to Bosnia for a job. She was just there to rebuilt a devasted contry by war, but she's now envolved in a big case of human trafic where she'll protect, doubt and much other things. Nothing is more dangerous than the truth.(What I thought about the plot) Well, it's based on a true story and you'll know more things about it if you watch the movie, I think that the script was interesting, it show us a frighting reality but the matter is that it didn't work that well here and I still don't know why, I think it was a great idea to make a movie about this but it just didn't work that well. The plot doesn't start off that well, like the movie, but it gets slowly interesting, wich was a thing that I enjoyed but it wasn't necessary, I would rather not to use the word slowly, but no one's a genius, they did what they can. They had a really great plot with potential to give us a chance to watch a great movie, overall, it didn't work, but I don't know why. Great plot. Bad movie.
Soundtrack, well, at least they also composed a great soundtrack, seriously, it was well composed and I really enjoyed to hear it.
Besides all that, I am now going to tell you what I really thought about this movie. First of all, The Whistleblower is bad movie, but whether I like it or not, I do think you should watch it, not for pleasure, but I do think you can lurn a few good things from here, cause that's realy what I'm trying to explain, if you want to get entertained you won't be if you watch The Whistleblower, the only thing you'll like from it is the way that they did a movie that it's no fiction and it's still about a very frighting reality that shouldn't be real. Aside from that, I don't think that The Whistleblower brings anything new, one or two great scenes, nothing more than that, I really found it very boring. Overall, The Whistleblower is not that good, in a way, I do recommend it and in other way, I don't, it does have a good cast and a good soundtrack but they just wrongly used the script and they made it very boring, I'm not sure if they realy had to do it, it's really just another, I didn' like it. The Whistleblower: 4.0/10. Bad.
Bad movie. Not recommended movie. Grade: D.
Even though I know lots of peole liked it and even though I know that it has a 7.1 on IMDb, I just couldn't be able to enjoy The Whistleblower that much, there's just something in it that doesn't leave us really attached to it, even though there was a great central perfomance and it was based on an interesting true story, the movie itself was very boring and for me to watch it was kind of rough, cause I got bored. I'm not gonna lie that this movie has some good stuff, I didn't like it, but there's still some good things about it wich I'm sure you'll understand them only if you watch it, as it weird it sounds, I didn't like it, but I do recommend it, cause I know lots of people liked it, I personally didn't, so this movie is just half recommended, you'll experience a movie with a great story, a great soundtrack, a great perfomance but they just missed something cause all of these things would hardly make us watch a boring movie. Sow, if you want to get entertained and have a great time watching a good movie, this ain't the movie, it's not that good, but if you want to watch a movie about reality and what things are happening out there that are much worse than we think, than you should, cause overall, this movie is just ment for it, I really didn't like it, it's really very boring. Bad movie.

Angers and sickens me that this went down, some scenes were kinda hard to watch. A good not to known movie to check out if you have time.

6/10: Inspired by true events, the director, without any fancy cinematography styles, let the impact of the story itself, and Rachel Wiesz's fine acting, carry the movie throughout. Very well done.

So, this is a super compelling movie. That is mostly thanks to Rachel Weisz, who turns in a great performance. The other thanks goes to Kathy Bolkovac, on whom this story is based. While watching, I could not believe that it was a true story, and the lengths the U.N. went to as an attempt to cover it up. Well, obviously, she wins, considering they made a movie out of her story. Like I mentioned earlier, Rachel Weisz is fantastic, and Roxana Condurache, in her only screen credit to date, plays Raya, the girl who sets off the whole investigation, is fantastic as well and heart breaking to watch. Actually, this movie as a whole is heart breaking to watch, and some parts are actually a little difficult to watch. My complaint is that it dragged in the middle, when there was almost a lull in the investigation, it happened in the movie as well. I almost fell asleep. Luckily, it picked back up again, and was fine for the rest. But, I think this is worth a watch, both from a movie, and from a human rights/raising awareness perspective.
