Star Trek Into Darkness
As I Lay Dying
Betty Jo Tucker
Anderson has truly made an old fashioned, great American movie. Not to be missed!!!
What? -- I think Hollywood, and its critics are practicing philosophical incest.... gay, Jewish and anti Christian.... any tripe that demolishes our collective wisdom on oil, Christians, and capitalism.. is genius?I sat through an excruciating score, watching a patchwork of personalities%u2026. and when the servant comes to the bowling alley - and discovers a dead body %u2014 Lewis says he%u2019s done.THIS IS HOLLYWOOD AT ITS BEST>%u2026 I think intellectual incest is the problem. This movie was a nightmare of disconnect and innuendo - with a soundtrack that made me hit mute and watch the dialogue.WHAT ? %u2014 are the critics all related to the principals? - its the only excuse I can come up with%u2026 quick, %u201Ctell em it%u2019s great and we%u2019ll might make our money back - they%u2019ll never know the difference%u201D

Jack T., I couldn't agree more. I know I'm coming in late in the game, but I watched There Will Be Blood last night and I just do not see what the fuss was about. An over-long, tedious plod through the life of a grumpy old psycho. Between the bizarre score and the enormous leaps forward in time (not that we were missing anything - it was the same, one-note story all the way through), I found the movie overwrought yet at the same time boring. I just didn't get it. Sorry.

I think you missed the point. Do some research and you will see why some people are calling this a masterpiece.
