Puerile, politically incorrect, rib-achingly funny and strangely insightful.

Consensus: There's Something About Mary proves that unrelentingly, unabashedly peurile humor doesn't necessarily come at the expense of a film's heart.

THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY is a no-holds-barred comedy tour-de-force in which 30-something Ben Stiller locates and courts his high school dreamgirl (Cameron Diaz), unwittingly enlisting the help of some of her more hilariously psychotic suitors. In-your-face sight gags and unapologetic raunchiness disguise a riotously funny love story that is actually very sweet. Be amazed at the impeccable casting and stellar performances of the supporting players. [More]

Reviews for There's Something About Mary
Remarkable for all the sick and politically incorrect sight gags it gets away with in its rule-breaking romp through the supposedly sacred laws of what makes people laugh, and what doesn't.
Cameron, with her unique beauty and unquittable smile, has a way of grounding the most ridiculous situations.
I may have gasped a little, and that's pretty much the intended effect.
There are some scenes of stand-out hilarity that will actually leave you in pain.
The trouble with the Farrelly brothers is that in order to get a laugh, they dump on everybody and everything.
...Dillon's Pat, in an effort to win Mary's affections, poorly attempts to ape her compassion for the handicapped by referring to them as "retards" and "goofy bastards...
Two very entertaining hours -- something that Hollywood comedies these days fail to deliver to the audience, with or without references to certain bodily fluids.
It's not every day that you hear screams of laughter coming from a movie theatre.
Get ready for some big laughs from a deeply flawed, but very funny over-the-top piece of comic anarchy.
