A twenty-five year old office drone heads back to his hometown and reconnects with a carefree childhood friend in director Theodore Bezaire's existential comedy drama. Vaguely reminiscent at times of cult classics like Office Space and Napoleon Dynamite yet retaining a deadpan sensibility all its own, Things to Do works more effectively as a pure comedy than as a story of personal growth.
Doesn't break any new ground in the crowded 20-something navel-gazing market, but it does deliver a solid new entry that's enjoyable and beautiful, with an interesting story and two stars you'll want to spend the relatively short 85 minutes with.
There is a charm that drifts over the entire picture, saving it from itself.
