Best Unproduced Scripts in Hollywood Unveiled
2007's Black List is here!
It's a young tradition, but Hollywood's Black List -- the year-end list of production executives' favorite scripts in development -- has already become an eagerly awaited December event.
As The New York Times notes, the 2005 list included Things We Lost in the Fire, Juno, and Lars and the Real Girl, so the execs making up the Black List panel know a thing or two about scripts -- which is why you may want to avail yourself of this year's screenplays. From the article:
Atop the 2007 list of 130 screenplays, which the list's compiler, Franklin Leonard, issued on Friday: "Recount," by Danny Strong, about the 2000 election battle in Florida; "Farragut North," a political drama by Beau Willimon; and "Passengers," by Jon Spaihts. HBO and Warner Brothers are already making the first two. The third, by a new writer, about a spaceship passenger prematurely thawed from a cryogenic slumber a century before anyone else, is available to studios or financiers, with Keanu Reeves attached to produce and star.
Meanwhile, over at Hollywood Elsewhere, the full Black List is available in PDF form. Click on the link below to have a look-see!

ARCADIA DISINHERITED by Adam Hutchinson %u201CThree brothers, displaced to a refugee camp after Hurricane Katrina, fight for each other's survival after one of them accidentally commits a crime.%u201D something i believe will find a following. this spells nomations. BFF by Chad & Dara Creasey %u201CA nerdy guy and a popular girl meet as high school freshmen. Over four years of high school, four proms and one funeral, they become friends and eventually fall in love.%u201D i loved this high concept screenplay. something i can relate to. i believe this could be a something like superbad but without the fowl language. ADVENTURELAND by Greg Mottola %u201CWhen an uptight recent college graduate realizes he cannot afford his European dream vacation, he is forced to take a minimum-wage job at a local amusement park.%u201D Greg Mottola is having a ball. superbad became the sleeper hit of the summer. i am looking forward to seeing this on the big screen. WORLD WAR Z by J Michael Straczynski %u201CA sober telling of the aftermath of a war fought against a legion of humans who were inflicted with a virus, died and were re-animated into flesh-eating zombies.%u201D (5 MENTIONS) i believe this is from a very popular book. my friends loved the book. seeing the big screen is so worth their money. ZOMBIELAND by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick %u201CAfter a zombie plague ravages America, a pair of %u2018odd couple%u2019 survivors team up to find purpose and combat the living dead in the post-apocalyptic Southwest.%u201D well well. something that could top the dawn of the dead remake. I WANT TO F--- YOUR SISTER by Melissa Stack %u201CA young man goes to great lengths to protect his younger sister from guys just like him.%u201D this could end up the next superbad. COXBLOCKER by Tim Dowling %u201CA guy meets the girl of his dreams, but her ex-boyfriend, who's now her best friend, keeps blocking his advances.%u201D this spells cult film. it wont make much money but find life on dvd. this is very relateable screenplay. and lastly... JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA by The Mulroneys %u201CThe exploits of the Justice League of America, an organization made up of the world's greatest superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern.%u201D it pains me so how crappy the turn out rate on this movie. the casting, the director, and the sceenplay. i would love to see this movie scrapped. young people playing adult superheros? not gonna fly with me. thats it.
