Faye Dunaway is Vicki Anderson, the insurance investigator assigned to the case. As Anderson proceeds in her search for the criminal, her sights become set on the millionaire thrill-seeker. The film captures McQueen near the height of his powers and popularity and was nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Original Score and Best Song ("The Windmills of Your Mind"). THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR was remade--starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo--in 1999, with Dunaway appearing as a psychologist. [More]

Reviews for The Thomas Crown Affair
It's no doubt dated now, and the multiscreen graphics won't make any sense on a pan-and-scan video version, but this heist movie starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway was considered pretty hot stuff back in 1968.
Possibly the most under-plotted, underwritten, over-photographed film of the year.
Jewison and McQueen especially manage to pull this affair into respectability, even memorability.
It's worth noting that 30 years and dozens of caper films later, the closing twist isn't nearly as startling as it once was, but it still makes for an effective conclusion.
