Reviews for Thomas Crown Affair, The
...professional Hollywood movie-making, which means it's at once very impressive and utterly dismissable.
Crown is a guilt-free pleasure, a way to waste a couple of hours happily at the theater without encountering computer-generated monsters or teenagers losing their virginity.
McTiernan's camerawork in particular, though, gives the film the style to pull off what could have been just another remake!
Glossy, uninvolving, full of irrelevant but handsome scenes in sailboats and gliders, requiring such suspension of disbelief that I expected Tinker Bell to fly past.
Much better than this year's Entrapment, and a great time killer for the above 20 demographic.
Those expecting a caper flick will be bored to tears by the film's sluggish pace, and will be chilled by the icy chemistry between the stars.
