PITFALL, Teshigahara's feature debut, follows a downtrodden miner and his son as they travel through a series of surreal landscapes, pursued by a mysterious stranger in a white suit. Based on the novel by Kobo Abe, WOMAN IN THE DUNES tells the story of a Japanese entomologist held prisoner in a sand pit with an alluring woman. Little by little, the scientist develops an intense bond with his female companion and resigns himself to an eternity of hypnotic routine. FACE OF ANOTHER, a chilling study of suspicion and despair, focuses on a horribly disfigured man and his profound sense of personal isolation after a physician gives him the face of another. [More]
