H.C.Potter boldly directs this musical remake of W. Somerset Maugham's play, TOO MANY HUSBANDS. The film begins as the notoriously leggy Betty Grable who stars as Julie Lowndes, frets because her husband has just returned safe and sound from World War II. Unfortunately prior to his return she remarried after receiving word that her husband had died in action. Suddenly she's got two spouses at home and a jealous best friend to deal with. This standard romantic musical comedy is enlivened by the on-screen sparks between married dance team Margaret and Gower Champion who portray Julie's friends Vernon Lowndes and Gwen Howard. The polyandrous plotline originally caused the film to be condemned by the Catholic Legion of Decency. The dance numbers, choreographed by Arthur Arling, were shot in Cinemascope and are particularly stunning on a wide screen. [Less]

It catches the leggy 39-nine-year old Betty Grable near the end of her fifteen year run as a headliner.
