Spending over ten years making the film, director Tom Peosay presents a clear, concise, educational chronology that tracks the major events and developments in the Tibet-China conflict both within those two countries and internationally. The film shows the beauty of the country's Himalaya Mountains, the artistry of Tibetan clothing and monasteries, the practices of the Buddhist religion, and the gentle spirit of the Tibetan people. But the most powerful part of the film includes archival news coverage, interviews with politicians and historians, and testimonials from survivors of torture and imprisonment. Woven together, these pieces tell the story of the immensely disturbing, violent ongoing struggle resulting from Tibet's occupation by China. The film does an excellent job with its material, and viewers will find themselves searching for a solution and an answer to Tibet's problems long after the movie's conclusion. ...this documentary took 10 years to make, and it shows in a comprehensive array of photographs and footage both gorgeous and appalling.

Gives you a sympathetic understanding of what's going on in Tibet, it may be one-sided, but it's effective and interesting.

An extraordinary and passionate documentary about the plight of these oppressed people whose religion remains one of the wonders of the world with its mind training, nonviolence and compassion.

It's a rare glimpse of China's 'final solution' for a courageous people whose world view is one of forgiveness, nonviolence and love.

If you're not at least a little bit moved by some of the more heart-rending stories told here, you might need to have your (metaphorical) heart checked.

Documentaries can be informative, entertaining and provocative, but rare is the documentary that makes you feel so engaged (and enraged) that it prompts you to action somehow. Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion is that kind of film.

As a film, the technique barely serves the well-intentioned motivation behind it: the exposure of unprincipled subjugation.
