The viewer assumes the role of detective in Catalan director Jaime Rosales' intense, avant-garde thriller following a middle-aged Spanish man as he goes about his daily business, and ending with a startling shock to the system. A painfully old-fashioned trick, a game played many times before, by far more thoughtful filmmakers with greater commands of and ideas about their medium.
The sudden shock in tone may have another different and unintended effect than the director intended, relief that finally something has happened.
What would have made an entertaining, if experimental, 20-minute short film has here been extended beyond sanity.
Makes one urgently crave what its title promises.
Essentially the equivalent of a news story where the facts are still forthcoming.
