Juno was robbed! If Cronenberg's name wasn't on Eastern Promises, it wouldn't be as "acclaimed"!

Good! I think Cronenberg deserves Oscar noms for Eastern Promises...with Mortensen and Watts, as well, well.... :) It had better make some appearances in the Academy Award arena.

I assume then Mr. orfilms that you personally saw both of these movies to make such a statement. How about filling us in on these movies and tell us what parts in particular that you liked and disliked when you saw them and explain why you feel Juno deserved to win over Eastern Promises? Chances are you are simply full of crap and just mouthing off as if you saw them and knew what you are talking about. So my boy, either enlighten us with your own personal viewing experiences of these two movies or stop making an *** of yourself by trying to impress everyone. Either you know what you are talking about or you don%u2019t. However any response you give to my comment will be entertaining at the very least. It%u2019s put up or shut up time kiddo. What%u2019s it going to be?

Whoa, Crude Bob. Whoa. Them's strong words for Mr. Orfilms, who I happen to know did see these films and at Toronto, no less. Peter's a pal and runs a great film site, but I'll let him chime in for himself if he chooses to respond to you. Why is it so many RT readers are so confrontational??

I wonder Jen if it's because people like MNr. Orfilms and others like him/begins their comments on a confrontational tone by making ridiculous accusations instead of giving us his/her insightful views on why they feel that way. While I agree that Crudebob was prerry harsh, I can understand his frustration when such comments are made. If Mr. Orfilms has seen the movies like you say, he should have give us his reasons for saying so instead of trashing both Cronenbery and the festival jury so childishly for giving Eastern Promises the top awa

crudebob, shut your old mouth. how many times can you call someone things like "my boy" and "kiddo" before we figure out that you're an aging blow-hard who uses these message boards to fill the voids in your ever-dwindling life. yes, crudebob, you got served by jen when she informed you that orfilms had in fact BEEN AT THE FESTIVAL. I really enjoyed reading that. oh and jen, people on this site get confrontational because they think they're better than everybody. i mean, not me of course, I'm way above that petty bullcrap.

Hey 'Kiddo' I got served nothing by Jen. The fact that Jen and Orfilsm are 'pals' as she put it is diddlysquat. I was no more confrontational to Mr. Orfilms that he was to Cronenberg and the Toronto jury and judging by your attack on Dracus who never said anything against Mr Orfilms or Jen, I was certainly far less confrontational than you have been. As for what I said about Orfilms, I stand by it more now than ever after reading Jen's remarks. Now, go back to watching cartoons 'my boy'.

In response to your remark about what you call my inane comment, it was posted 3 times strictly by accident due to my hitting the wrong key on my keyboard. The first two were incomplete and the third was complete. If I had the ability to delete an accidental posting, only the third would have appeared. As for my comment, Jen wondered why some RT readers are so confrontational and I simply responded with what I thought was a very reasonable comment. I never attacked Orfilms, Jen, and I didn%u2019t defend Crudebob. Above all I certainly never said anything about you since you posted after me. So why the confrontational comment toward me dahluzz? I think all you done today was reinforce Crudebob's misguided comment.

Although I enjoyed it, I really didn't think Eastern Promises was anything special. Of course, I didn't understand the acclaim behind History of Violence, either. I did like Eastern Promises better, though. It was much more even-toned, than History of Violence and the acting, I thought, was better, as well. The ending did seem tacked on and forced, however.

I really don't understand the critics love of Cronenberg. He throws in sex and gory violence in films where they don't really belong and critics and his fans salivate. Enough, already. It reminds me a bit of Atom Egoyan. How many times can he make a film covering the same subject matter?

Happy to hear it, with Eastern Promises expanding this friday, I'll be checking it out. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.
