Carmen (Jacqueline Obradors), the middle sister, is a beautiful and successful executive who has just been offered a dream job in Barcelona. Does she tale the job -- which offers big bucks and ensures her father’s happiness -- or follow her heart into the kitchen to cook the seductive and rebellious tortillas, tomatillos, and chiles that she loves?
Maribel (Tamara Mello), the baby of the family, is off for college in the fall. But plans change when the bohemian free spirit Andy (Nikolai Kinsi) enters her life. Who needs college when you can travel the world?
The eldest, Leticia (Elizabeth Pena), is a prim and proper schoolteacher who lives a life of quiet devotion to her father, her pupils and the Lord … until she starts receiving mysterious love letters…

Reviews for Tortilla Soup
Like many a meal, the lives of these characters don't necessarily turn out as planned, but the surprises are what provide the extra flavor and delight.
Although there are some rather broad strokes to the comedy (and a couple of characters that verge on caricature), "Tortilla Soup" ultimately serves up a tasty dish.
Its attributes and achievements are modest, but its arias, duets, and ensembles are engaging all the same.
A feast for the heart as well as the palate, Tortilla Soup is one of the best-tasting films of the year.
Although six writers worked on the adaptation, for once too many cooks didn't spoil the broth.
Tortilla Soup may swap Szechwan peppercorns for chipotles, but it appeals to a universal appetite for stories that are as rich and warm as they are flavorful.
A gem of ensemble acting with a warm, subtle performance by Hector Elizondo as a master chef overseeing three daughters.
Tortilla Soup is a quiet movie that gently simmers as its flavors and pleasures deepen.
Isn’t the delicacy that Eat Drink Man Woman was But on the level of comfort food this remake is enjoyable enough.
Eat dinner first, or this tasty Latino translation of Ang Lee's Eat Drink Man Woman will have your stomach growling the whole time.
