This 1983 film re-creates a screwball comedy format and then eliminates everything but the crudest audience-gratification elements; any incursions into the more morally complicated side of the genre are quickly curtailed.

Agree completely with Shane B.
This idiot Dave Kehr muxt pay someone to be a film critic.
This movie is one of the all-time greats!

Dave, your opinion sucks every time!

ummm...most of us go to a comedy to, hopefully, laugh our heads off and keep a grin in our hearts for the rest of the night. I feel really sorry for someone who disses a movie meant to do just that (and does it so well) because it doesn't measure up to his proud "intellectual" standards." geezz. What a bore.

This is a (ingenious) screwball comedy and should be viewed within that realm, whether you like it or not. This is a true critics review. One from a person who has no intention of creating something, given they have failed at realizing their dreams of becoming a storyteller themselves (the irony being their movie ideas were clearly inferior to this one, which they hate). Now, their embitterment produces sharp and overtly serious vexations about a movie that is, essentially, a screw ball comedy. You tell us that you want to make a different movie to this yet you have no ideas for what that might be nor any apptitude for making it. How's that for a social commentary on you?

Honestly Dave lighten up. This is one of the greatest comedies ever. I have been laughing at the Jacuzzi joke for over 25 years now! Morally complicated side? Honestly do you take your self seriously when you review a film like this?

Everyone shut the f*** up. The guy has the right to his opinion; if you're gonna criticize it, at least do it intelligently.
