Want to find out more about the Transformers 2 scene Michael Bay is shooting at Bethlehem Steel? Or how about the shoot scheduled at the Smithsonian? We have all the details. As always, if you don’t want anything spoiled, skip it! And while I’m 95% sure this information is legit, there is always the chance that this could be leaked misinformation from Bay (although it doesn’t seem like it). But for your safety, treat everything below as rumor.
The opening of Transformers 2 takes place at a Steel Factory in Shanghai, China (filmed in Bethlehem, PA), where the Autobots, the British SAS (Matthew Marsden as “Graham” and Andrew Howard) and Captain Lennox’s Military team (Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson) are chasing after a Decepticon Audi RS8. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are not featured in the opening chase sequence.
The autobots include a pair of robots called The Twins, which join together to form an Ice Cream Truck (pictured right). An ice cream truck is a great disguise for a transformer as no one would suspect. I’m guessing that one of the twins is white and the other is pink (but this is just a guess). This appears the be the coolest new addition to the autobot line-up. There’s one sequence where the Twins are speeding down a Shanghai street and split apart around a group of chinese children in the street, which should be pretty cool looking. At another point the truck crashes and the Twins split in two and have a brotherly fight. Yes, it looks like the comic tone of the original film is back.
Also involved in the chase is a hot pink ninja style motorcycle with black highlights which turns into Arcee (toy pictured below), a go-cart named Wheels / Wheelbot and Stinger (possibly a Porsche). Lennox’s team meets up with Ironhide on a Shanghai Street. I’m not sure exactly what happens but it appears that the Deception R8 escapes. All in all it seems like a pretty bad ass chase sequence.
Arcee was originally going to be a member of the live-action movie’s Autobot cast, but was later replaced by Ironhide.
The production has now moved to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum for a scene which takes place late into the film (I’m guessing about an hour into the film). Bumblebee and The Twins are left in the parking lot as Sam (Shia), Mikaela (Fox), Sam’s college roommate/friend Leo (a new supporting character played by The Wire’s Ramon Rodriguez), and Sector 7 Agent Simmons (John Turturro) distract the guards and sneak into the Smithsonian after hours. Simmons uses a radiation tracker (a call back to the first film) to find a SR-71 Blackbird in the museum.
Sam uses something called the “Splinter” (maybe a tiny piece of the alspark?) to activate the SR-71, which transforms into Jetfire. Jetfire as a Blackbird spy plane? Very Cool. For some reason he has a Decepticon logo, not sure why. Maybe he switched sides?
The involvement of a Constructicon Earth Mover pretty much confirms the rumor that the Constructicons and Devastator might appear in the film.
I’m sure we’ll learn more in the coming weeks as there is 80 more days of shooting to go. But so far what we do know has me very excited for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

But i keep thinking about what Micheal bay said about false info.
This information that has appeared today might be real or Bay messing.

Jetfire started out as a Decepticon in the comics and cartoon (in the latter he was an old friend of Starscream). An excellent story.

In the original Transformers animated series, Skyfire (Jetfire) was tricked into believing he was a Decepticon and I think he was a scientist with Starscream as a partner on Cybertron. In the Marvel Comics version of Jetfire, he was constructed by Shockwave on Earth.

I have a hard time believing that The Twins will be an old beat up ice cream truck. We all know Michael Bay is an advertising slut. Just watch Transformers #1 and you can see that. An old beat up ice cream truck has no marketing value. Unless all of the sudden Michael Bay doesn’t care about that. Which i doubt very much. Just look at the inclusion of the Audi RS8. Unless of course the old beat up ice cream truck turns into something more modern and more profitable later in the film. Like Bumble Bee in the first one.

Anyways, im really torn about spoiling the movie. Im usually the first person to read spoilers but this is one movie where I think I want to go in blind. I saw the first one without knowing anything expect it would be cool. I think im gonna have to restrain myself from too many spoilers.
Oh and anyone thing Arcee would be a good team up for Megan Fox. I think her on a motocycle in a chase scene would be nice.

Umm, nobody would suspect ANY vehicle as a Transformer until it actually transformed. You could have said “A Kia Sorento is a great disguise for a transformer as….” and it wouldn’t have mattered. You have to think, when they transform into their robot form, is one of the Twins going to have a little swirl of vanilla on the top his head?? C’mon, this HAS to be a joke.

i think when peter said “a disguise no one would suspect”, he meant ‘US’ the audience would be fooled, as we are constantly looking for which vehicle will change next.
also, i hope to see a high paced chase like scene where a robot as to rapidly change from: robot-vehicle-robot-vehicle-robot-vehicle to accomidate for obstacles in its path/a fight it is engaged in. i think arcee would be badass for that.

To the person that said about arcee being for Megan Fox, I thought the same thing when I first saw her. I think it would make sense for her to get a guardian and I was watching T1 earlier today and I remember her riding a moped (sp?) so yup seems likely she will get her own transformer.

I just wanted you all to know there’s no such thing as an Audi RS8, not as of yet anyway. Otherwise the SR71 Blackbird should be really nice, I can imagine an awesome air and land showdown between Jetfire and Starscream. I’m looking forward to seeing the Porsche as well(if that’s what it turns out to be).

vmquan, there is such a car as the audi rs8.. it is the sportier version of the audi r8 currently out now. It’s not out yet but will be, which would make sense why it would be in the transformers 2 movie a year from now to be advertised to the public. But either way i think this movie is going to be great and can’t wait for it to come out. The blackbird will be a really nice addition to the lineup.

There was no blackbird TF in the old cartoon. Jetfire was a weird fighter like transport in toon, and a Robotech veritech fighter in toy form.

Jetfire/Skyfire should not be a spyplane at all.. he should be some sort of big transport plane.. like he was used in the cartoons/comics..
Jazz should be brought back as a friggin porsche.. flat out.
The “twins”.. there were several in the cartoon series.. I think an ice cream truck is kinda.. well its screaming fake to me.. but who knows with micheal bay.. could be some lame truck.. turning into some awesome combiner or something.

As for Arcee.. totally set up for megan fox and a bike/car chase scene.. micheal bay has told her to “look sexy” so you can see them putting her in something silly and throw her on a sport bike.

The picture with BB Jazz and Rc is an old concept drawing from the first movie bay was going to use Rc but Put Ironhide in it instead. As for bay messing things up i dought he will. We just need to wait to see some fotage come out than start to base our opinions off that. Not just set photos and speculation.

Has anyone even seen SOME of the G1 episodes!? The twin robots are supposed to Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. They’re Lambroginies! Yellow and red Lambo that CANNOT join! There’s no way they would even lightly consider being anything then the hottest car they could get their scanners on! They’re two of the most loveable Autobots in the entire franchise (Well, Sideswipe is at least. Sunny tends to be mean.)! They’re both more obsessed with their paintjob that only few things stand as higher priority! Has anyone ever heard of “Jet Judo”, They invented it! It was a attack against the ‘Con Seekers (Starscream and his Trine *Skywarp and Thundercracker*). I think only one out of all the comment I saw about the whole ‘Ice cream truck- twins’ had even the slightest idea of who the twins really are! Don’t beleive any rumors you hear this early. Bay’s just putting bullshit on the web to throw people off and get them to back off a little. The dude that said to not beleive was right! It’s bullshit, all of it. Though Acree sounds possible since she was almost in the first. Still, don’t get hopes up too high and don’t take any info you get to heart, it could be wrong. (I don’t mean to come across as angry or anything but I’m just trying to get my point across. So sorry if it sounded harsh.)

Of course there were twins in the original series. The first ones were Sunstreaker and Sideswipe (the lamborgines) and Reflector was actually triplets

jetfire was a decepticon left behind, and autobots find him frozen on ice, on the g1 series, then he becomes good but still with the decepticon symbol, then removed…..i also read somewhere, before the 1st film came out that bay was requesting the use of an aircraft carrier used to battle the constructicons uber transformation: devastator, rumor last ive heard…..has anyone checked sectorseven.org for new hitns or videos on transformer sightings….???

They’re filming this as I type. They’re shooting a chase scene with the ice cream truck, some kind of Audi sports car, a Porche Cayenne, and what looks like a fuel truck at the old Southwest Shipyard in San Pedro, Ca. . Lots of cool explosions, smoke, and fire effects. If you go down to Ports O’ Call you would have a good view of this across the channel. They have those same japanese characters in neon set up like in the trailer pic.

Optimus Prime?! DYING?!!! NO! he is my favorite transformer. i personally dont think the movie would be as good if Prime died. and yes i know he died in the animated movie but i heard that at the end of the animated movie, when they were showing credits, that it said that ‘Optimus Prime will return.’ so maybe michael bay will listen to that and bring Optimus Prime back to life if he died OR maybe he wont have Prime die at all knowing Optimus Prime’s popularity. i love transformers and especially Optimus Prime…and i am a girl! OK, so the ice cream truck looks a bit pony, but there were lots of twin transformers in G1, like the Duocons (Flywheels and Battletrap), the Autobot and Decepticon Clones (Wingspan, Pounce, Fastlane and Cloudraker) and the siamese twins in the UK comics (Rack & Ruin), so I think it’s just revisiting the old (and best) G1 characters. Here’s hoping for the Pretenders in Transformers 3!

I’m, presonally hoping that the ice cream truck is false information, leaked to throw us off. The only Autobot twins are Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, who were front-line warriors in the cartoon and transformers into yellow and red lamborghinis respectively. It would be awful for them to combine into an ice cream truck now!

I’ven got more info…..soundwave is introduced and jetfire may switch to the autobots….starscream dies but his spark survives[his soul>…threr will be transformers that transform into weapons ……there will be a medic but optimus shall die cause soundwave…..and hot rod may come down as a spy and the name of the autobot wheels in wheely ……..and both twins transform in to porshes and they merge into the icecream truck.
ps what side swipe and sunsteaker are not twins.the only reason they both are lamborghini’s is because they had already established the conversion of a robot thAT transforms in to a lamborghin

Gokuh. Jetfire was not a Decepticon left behind. And also, his name was “Skyfire”. He was neither Decepticon nor Autobot. Back before th great war he and Starscream where friends. They both explorered an unknown planet, which turned out to Earth. They were both court in a polar wind storm and they were seperated. Skyfire crashed in the ice where he remained until he was discovered by the Decepticons. Back then Starscream was not even a Decepticon. He chose that side when the war began. And Skyfire chose the side of the Autobots.

Yes. that’s the name Starscream refers to him as. But in some circles he is also known as Jetfire. I’m not sure why though. It’s possible that Jetfire is what he’s known as in Japan. They have a habit of changing things like names. Afterall Prime is known as “Convoy” over there.

Dude. Jazz got ripped in half. There’s no coming back from that. If it were so easy to bring dead Transformers back there’d be no need to introduce new ones. And also their deaths wouldn’t have the same impact. I should also point out that Micheal bay perposely leaked false information about the plot. So that if the real plot ever got out no one would know the truth from the lies. So because of this I remain spectulative of any story I read regarding plot or charractor development. I have to admit, Bay is a genius. Throw the birds a few crumbs to keep them satisfied. But not too much so they flock round for more.

Who knows, maybe Bay said he leaked false information to throw us of scent. And the information we are getting is true. Highly unlikely but still possible.
