Five Favorite Films with Megan Fox
It wasn't too long ago that Megan Fox found herself at the dizzying center of the celebrity maelstrom. Through no particular fault of her own, she was teetering on the brink of media overexposure -- the kind that comes from the usual perception of someone (and more often an actress) suddenly becoming too big, and too fast. Fox's well-publicized (and rather humorous) feud with her Transformers director Michael Bay lead to her being dismissed from the third installment (quick: try and remember the name of her replacement), while her would-be star vehicle -- the hopelessly misunderstood Jennifer's Body -- bombed with critics and audiences. Yet Fox's career is taking an arguably more interesting turn now that the white light of scrutiny has subsided: she's got roles in Judd Apatow's Knocked Up sequel This is 40 and Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator on the way, and this week stars as part of the ensemble cast of Jennifer Westfeldt's Friends with Kids. In the well-received comedy-drama, Fox plays Mary Jane, the much-younger girlfriend of single-dad-with-a-twist Adam Scott, while getting to act alongside a cast that includes Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph.
We got a chance to chat with Fox about the experience recently, as well as her thoughts on doing more of this kind of comedy in the future. Read on for that, but first, she reeled off her five favorite films.

RT on DVD: Transformers, Peanuts, and an Easy Rider
This week on home video, you'll be seeing a lot of shapeshifting robots engaged in epic battles with each other, as not only does Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hit store shelves, but also the all-encompassing Transformers 25th Anniversary "Matrix of Leadership" Edition. While the former was a poorly reviewed box-office smash hit, the latter is the source material (as in, every single episode of the Generation One series), often equally incomprehensible in plot, but somehow much more endearing. In addition, we've got a handful of indie dramas in Cheri, Beauty in Trouble, and the Criterion re-release of director Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding, which comes packed with special features. Then we've got something for the kids, something for fans of mindless action films, and an American classic getting the hi-def treatment. Check out our picks and decide what you'll be snatching up this week.

Michael Bay filming (literally) intimate project
Let no one say that Michael Bay isn't true to his word. After hinting that his next project after the box-office monster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen could be a smaller, more intimate film, he's gone and done just that. Well, when we say "intimate" we do mean a Victoria's Secret commercial. With helicopters. Duh.

Joe: The Rise of the Cobra this afternoon, and while talking to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura about all things Cobra, we also took the opportunity to quiz him on the future of the Transformers franchise. So as well as discussing the future involvement of director Michael Bay and the controversy surrounding a couple of well-publicised characters, we quizzed him on who we might see make an appearance in the third part. So read on for all things Transformers, and look out for our extensive chat about G.I. Joe coming up in a couple of weeks.

Box Office Guru Wrapup: Transformers 2 Generates Explosive Box Office
This weekend Robots ruled the box office as the highly-anticipated action sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen generated the second biggest opening in history with a gargantuan $201.2M in its first five days, according to studio estimates, sending the overall marketplace to its highest gross of the year. The eye-popping figure included $112M over the traditional Friday-to-Sunday period plus an additional $89.2M since its Wednesday launch. Playing ultrawide in 4,234 theaters including 169 IMAX screens, the Paramount release averaged a stunning $26,453 over the Friday-to-Sunday period and a gigantic $47,531 over five days. The only other film to ever gross more in its first five days was last summer's The Dark Knight which hauled in a slightly better $203.8M from 4,366 venues. The first Transformers bowed to $155.4M in 6.5 days and needed 12.5 days to break the double-century mark on its way to a $319.2M finish.

Critics Consensus: Transformers 2 Is Less Than Meets The Eye
This week at the movies, we've got robots in disguise (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, starring Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf) and a family in disrepair (My Sister's Keeper, starring Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin). What do the critics have to say? Most folks like their blockbusters big, loud, and loaded with spectacle. However, the masses also tend to enjoy good characters and some semblance of a plot, two things the pundits say are sorely missing from Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. A lot of movies walk a fine line between being emotionally involving and seeming merely manipulative, and critics are essentially split on which side My Sister's Keeper falls.

Box Office Guru Preview: Transformers Set to Smash Records
This summer's major artillery has taken over North American multiplexes with the mid-week launch of the action tentpole Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which aims to become one of the top-grossing blockbusters of 2009. Michael Bay's followup to 2007's third highest-grossing film exploded on Wednesday with an early studio estimate of $60.6M including $16M from post-midnight shows on Tuesday night. Signs point to the new Autobots flick to match or exceed the all-time record for a Wednesday-to-Sunday debut which has been held for five years by Spider-Man 2 which banked $152.4M in July 2004.

Who's Who in Transformers 2? A Visual Guide
This Wednesday, the forces of Michael Bay and Co. return to the multiplex with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which picks up two years after the events of 2007's Transformers. As the humans work in secret with Optimus Prime and a line-up of Autobots to battle the malicious Decepticons that remain hidden on Earth, Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf) is gearing up for his own challenge: freshman year at college, where his relationship with girlfriend Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) must endure its own tests -- namely, an alluring co-ed with her eye on Sam (Isabel Lucas). Read on to catch up with the new and familiar 'bots, villains, and humans of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!

Total Recall: Best Movie Robots
This week's release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen marks the return of the famous "robots in disguise" to the big screen. That got us at RT thinking about movie robots, and specifically, what would be the best robot to actually own? So we've put together a pretty big list of the best robots in movie history.
A quick note on our methodology; for the most part, we're sticking to movie robots, so TV stars like Twiki that never made the jump to the big screen are left in the scrap pile. And we've ranked this list by a very subjective measurement we call "awesomeness," which is a combination of fame, utility, physical appearance, and how great it would be to have one of these 'bots in your possession. So, without further ado, let's get mechanical!

Tomatometer Watch: Is Transformers More Than Meets the Eye?
It's revenge of the critics this week as they put in their crosshairs the Mozart of movie explosions, Michael Bay. The two camps have always had a contentious working relationship, with critics granting only one Bay movie Fresh status (The Rock drummed up 66% in 1996). Bay's latest summer blockbuster, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, has received its first round of reviews and looks so far to be critically similar to Transformers, which ended its run with a just shy of Fresh 57% Tomatometer. What have the critics been about this sequel?

More Transformers 2 clips surface -- in German
Thanks to the wonders of German promotional campaigns, two more clips from Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen have surfaced on the internet. They're both dubbed and have no English subtitles (apologies to our non German-speaking audience), which sort of adds to the comedic value of the first slapstick clip. Is it just us, or does Shia LaBeaouf sound smarter speaking German? And Megan Fox cuter? We're pretty sure that pratfalling Wheelie is a lot funnier in unintelligible German than his English dialogue -- or maybe it's just proof that Michael Bay speaks the universal cinematic language of bumping into things (that or he's been watching WALL-E too much). The second clip comes from a robot attack scene in the opening sequence.
