(Yes I'm try to make the point that I haven't been able to find any REAL referance matrial other than vague refrences here on RT in refrences to whether or not certain movies will be wrapped by then). If someone could point me to some decent articles that explain the whole thing, I'd appriciate it. Also, looking forward to Transformers 2, thoroughly enjoyed the first one. And Witherwings, descrating one of his own masterpieces with Walkie-Talkies was a lot worse for the Spielburg name than any Michael Bay directed Transformers movie will ever be, so I wouldn't sweat it too hard. How boring would that movie be? You go into the movie, already seeing the title, how dumb can you be to not expect many humans. "Their war, our world".. RoadDogXVIII writes: on Sep 24 2007 10:36 AM I'm going to say that Michael Bay wasn't the best director before "Transformers". "Armageddon" could've been a good summer blockbuster with entertainment galore, but throw in a nauseating romance (Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler were nominated for Razzies) and stupidity for the sake of stupidity, and you've shot yourself in the foot. Now, throw in an even more nauesating romance (Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, and Kate Beckinsale) as a backdrop to a serious tragic event, and you've got "Pearl Harbor". Bay definitely got back to simple and clean fun with "Transformers" - an easier-to-swallow love story (Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox kick Affleck/Tyler's asses), plenty of humor, and a whallop of a battle at the last half of the film. And no sap anywhere. I really don't see why it's an awful film. Even some of Bay's haters praised him (look for Brian Ordrof's review). Steven Spielberg and his people (Industrial Light & Magic) pretty muched save Bay from crashing. Meanwhile, you guys are seeing stuff like "Live Free or Die Hard", which pretty much wasn't that great as you said (Timothy Olyphant playing a bland villain, Mary Elizabeth Winstead once again playing bitter and angry, and too much talkiness that slowed the movie down). Same with "Hairspray" (Brittany Snow's head-bashing performance summed up the whole film, though I wish the best for Nikki Blonsky's career), "Blades of Glory" (Jon Heder and Jenna Fischer slowed the movie down), "Pirates of the Carribean" (Keira Knightly: not the best, or subtle, actress in the world), "Spider-Man 3" (too weepy; good thing Kirsten Dunst's next project is with Brit funnyman Simon Pegg), "Disturbia" (a rather boring film that couldn't mix chuckles and chills), and "Meet the Robinsons" (too much sap brought down the upbeat comedy that could've been an easygoing Disney film). I'm sorry if I diss any of you, but I may have a better taste in films that aren't overtly overrated. (Reply to this) |

So if all the idiots out there are like you and hated Transformers for whatever reasons than they can whine and b*tch all they want about Michal Bay , or the plot , or the kid like jokes, or anything else that made this a " Horrible" movie ... Cuz anyone who openly includes DOA or TMNT , Chuck and Larry and Shrek 3 as there fav movies of the year has obvious issues in taste and what they consider a "quality" movie , Half your list makes sense and i even agree with a few ,but the other half makes you look like a complete shmuck . You now have no credibility and anything you say about further movies should be ignored ... I have defended this movie from the get go and will continue to do so , I was entertained and there were even a few moments where i literally said WOW , i was entertained and thats all that matters . They had to introduce Transformers to a new geneation of kids and teens and still keep fanboys and nostalgic young adults interested and pleased . Hence the corny moments , the lame jokes and the attempt to make this in part a teen romance , take the bad with the good and enjoy Optimus Prime kickin A$$ ... I would like all of you haters to write there own script since they think they know what would have worked better and hit every target demographic and go on to make more than a half billion dollars . People like Transformers, those who didn't get over it! Bay has made so great films over the years that people do like (the Rock for instance!). If it's not your thing get your head outta your arse and go see something else. Seriously, haven't you got something better to do??? Like that other guy said, if he directed Pulp Fiction, you'd all tear it to sheds still. So Michael Bay divides people... big deal!!! That doesn't make him a bad director of the likes of universally hated directors Uwe Boll or well.... Uwe Boll. (Reply to this) |

RoadDogXVIII writes: on Sep 25 2007 09:02 AM In reply to this comment (#1146270) Dude, I like "Transformers" as much as you do. Admittedly, some of the movies on my list weren't great. But as jeremyd4 said, at least they don't have an enormous amount of useless **** in them. "D.O.A." was, put simply, a fun martial arts film that had alot of balls and was fast. And it was dumb, but in a good kind of way that you could at least enjoy it. And that's it. Plus, Corey Yuen of "Transporter" fame handled it, so why *****? "Chuck & Larry" was not as unfunny as people are making it out to be (this film also reclaimed my love for Jessica Biel, who bored me to tears in "Next"). Besides, it could've been "Click" all over again. "Shrek 3" was still an entertaining "Shrek". While I could've dealt without a deathbed scene, it still had some charm left in the can (the main cast, as well as Eric Idle and Justin Timberlake, delivered the goods). And compared to today's CGI-infested garbage heap ("Meet the Robinsons"), it'll do just fine for what it is. "TMNT", while not the balls-out actioner that the original turtles films were, but the visuals were cool, there was good drama between Leo and Raph, and... okay, maybe that's just it. But it's lightweight fun for fans of the comic books. (Reply to this) |

I don't understand why people hate Michael Bay so much, yet these fools insist on watchin' his movies. If ya don't like him or his movies, then don't complain about 'em and don't friggin' watch 'em. Plain nad simple. He still gets his money and rep. And all you cornballz get is a headache and even less money than you had before you went to see the film. Good grief, just lay off him and find somethin' better to do wit' the negativity. I, for one, will look forward to Bay's next Transformers flick and hope Shia is in it. criddic writes: on Sep 25 2007 11:21 AM Michael Bay has made exactly two worthwhile movies: The Rock and Transformers. That they came out almost exactly 10 years apart from each other speaks volumes about the quality of his other movies. But I give him the benefit of the doubt, because I have seen some fine actors do the same thing that this director has done. They choose projects that will make them money, but won't further their artistic careers. I think that Disturbia was an entertaining modern-day "Rear Window" that cast teenagers in the roles. It worked for me. Not a profound or future-classic movie, but entertaining. Live Free or Die Hard was surprisingly enjoyable and it was well-made, with good work from Bruce Willis. Summer movies are what they are, and some of them do suck, but some of them work as an entertainment. Transformers is one of those movies. The characters are likable, the action is fast-paced and the dialogue fun. Nothing wrong with that. I have a problem with some of the comedies and horror movies that are being released in recent years. They truly don't treat the audience with any respect, dumbing down their characters and upping the gore/yuck factors to reel in the teens to waste their money. While we have decent action movies like Transformers, where the characters aren't too dumb and the script isn't too lazy, we should spend more time attacking the dreadful horror movies and comedies that Hollywood shoves down our throats. In other words, let's use our complaints more wisely. There are far worse movies out there than Transformers, and far less entertaining ones. (Reply to this) |

RoadDogXVIII writes: on Sep 25 2007 04:28 PM In reply to this comment (#1147060) Well put, criddic. Horror films and comedies haven't been too good lately. The only good comedies this year came from heavyweights like Judd Apatow ("Knocked Up") and Edgar Wright ("Hot Fuzz"), while the rest were either disappointing ("Blades of Glory", "Evan Almighty") or had no choice ("Balls of Fury", "Mr. Woodcock"). And horror films, as everyone is aware, is too determined to offer gore for the sake of gore instead of focusing on the aspects of suspense, plot, and character. Hell, most of the latter genre's films were either torture porn (soon to include "Saw IV"; don't know why that franchise is hot) or disappointing sequels/remakes ("The Hills Have Eyes II", "Halloween"). "Transformers" was a dumb movie. But unlike past efforts, Michael Bay used it to his advantage to make an enjoyable blockbuster film. Shia LaBeouf and Magan Fox, as I said before, mopped the floor with Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler's carcasses (i.e. they had a stronger love story). And kudos for getting Peter Cullen to reprise his role as Optimus Prime; no one can do Prime like Cullen can. (Reply to this) |

hollywoodjackson writes: on Sep 26 2007 08:09 PM Transformers 2... This post may be a bit longer than normal. Sorry! No matter what anyone says; I think people should stand back and think about the million's of kids (like me!) growing up watching these amazing cartoons who one day wanted to see it in live action.. I grew up watching the cartoon myself, coming home from school to get a glimps of my favorite characters, later reading the comic, going onto 2 art degrees to study art - almost because of the very cartoons themselves. I knew the movie would be hard to make, but Bay pulled it off in a great way.. even harder to put together than most people would think was the story, the human and robot characters, the plot.. I think they did a fantastic job with the action, CGI. No doubt. Mr Bay. I would like to propose you have the writers get more into the characters of Prime, and his entourage. The writers could learn a lot from the original characters craeted on TV - small details like Prime's "AutoBot's, Transform and Roll Out" or Prime's "robot series" transform calls to surrounding autobots by name call-offs... Jazz, Bumblebee, Ironhide, SideSwipe, Sunstreaker, Cliffjumper - Transform and Roll out! There was one moment in the film, I could see it coming.. and yet - he had them run off, instead of all transform beside one another and actually - Roll Out! Little things that made the characters stand together, when going into battle, or missions of sorts. The more the development will take place for the robots, the rest will fall into place. I know this post to a lot of people out there, won't make any sense, and I don't expect it too - but adding these small things which translate from the original series will help the overall feel of the film to die-hard fans like "us" out there who followed those dreams. Mr. Bay - I would like to help write the script, and story line on TF2. Why not bring in someone from the outside, who isn't a writer, but knows these characters better than the writers themselves. Anyways, I'm probably not the only out there who feels like this about the film. Think about the possibility of the next story and where it could go. Starscream.. taking over.. Megatron not really dead.. I mean, the cube brings life.. it doesn't take it away (ex..frenzy being rebuilt by it power)..."Jazz" dead ?? Why not intrdocuce "Chip" from the cartoon series.. a genius who understands their programming and design.. could he fix him... the battle ongoing with Prime.. new transformers brought to earth who arrive.. Energon.. . God the story isn't over and there is so much that could be built on.. I've got the ideas... now let's get em' on paper ! Oh - Mr. Bay - if you ever read this... no matter what anyone says online, the film was great. I saw it oh, I don't know.. 5-6 times to take it all in - all angles, effects, charater use and verbage.... I mean as a kid, I would have just been blown away at the possibility of something like this happening. I guess some of us are able to step away from the "what the @$@##" to "that was just an awesome film - plain and simple. The film was awesome and I can't wait for #2. Great job (Reply to this) |

DIABLUSX writes: on Sep 29 2007 08:37 AM Transformers is about robots. ROBOTS! Hopefully the next will have some more characters like an updated Soundwave. That would be great if the could update him correctly and make his little robots also look great. I would pay just to see that. (Reply to this) |

Uradik Smoke writes: on Sep 30 2007 03:46 PM Transformer 2 Must haves ... 1) Soundwave and his minions 2) Megatron must return and over throw Starscream who has taken leadership 3) Jazz must be re-built or brought back with that small piece of cube Prime has 4) The Constructicons and the real Devastator need to be in this 5) More Autobot favs , Cliff Jumper , Braun , Prowl etc... BUT KEEP IT GEN 1 . No cross overs yet , so no Arcee , or Kup or Hot Rod yet ... 6) Energon ??? There needs to be a plot about energon 7) Lets see some Cybertron scenes , some flashbacks or something 8) I was kinda depressed that there was no Ark , they need some kind of base right ??? 9) Lets have sonme more Decepticon dialogue and character building 10) More Fight/Action sequences (Reply to this) |

buzzman writes: on Oct 17 2007 07:34 PM idk wut you guys are complaining about, i thought the first one wuz just fine, the only thing they could've done to make it better is involve more action with the transformers. I believe the second one will be even better cuz it gives them a chance to bring in the rest of the characters like RC and soundwave, and it also gives us a chance to see what happened to starscream, because he never died. PrimeMaximus2K9 writes: on Jan 10 2008 07:20 PM Transformers was a well rounded film "haters". Ok, some of the scenes were probably uneccessary if you just want to see s!@t blowing up. The director every one loves to hate did a spectacular job in introducing the Transformers to the world. They were introduced as more than just giant robots, but characters everyone could relate to. By the way, was I the only one that noticed the battle in Mission City where Jazz speeds up in vehicle mode and transforms on top of Devestator changing the direction of his cannon that was nearly a copy of a similar scene in Transformers the Animated movie? Remember when Kup and Hotrod are fighting outside the city and Kup does a similar squence forcing Blitzwing to miss firing upon Hotrod in Tank mode? That was so awesome and I'm not sure if Michael Bay did for the fans or if it was just coincidence; Way to go Michael Bay! (Reply to this) |

PrimeMaximus2K9 writes: on Jan 10 2008 07:42 PM In reply to this comment (#1158154) I'm sure Hasbro probably wants to introduce a female robot for all the ladies out there. Arcee would be a great addition. Keeping it strictly generation one is good and bad. I think the fans are ready for it anything at this point. Whether you're a fan or not; you now know what the transformers are all about and Michael Bay can easily add some generation 2 characters with ease. I'd like to see all the robots you mentioned above and also Auto Bots-Ultra Magnus, Hotrod, Sky Linx (Space Shuttle Columbia), Arial Bots ( could be a squadron of F-15's/F-16's/and a modified Concord or SR-71Blackbird. I can only imagine what the Dino Bots would be like in CGI! Decepticons-Megatron back, but transformed into the original version from Generation One! That would be Wicked!!! I could see a scene where Soundwave is getting ready to revive Megatron and Sector 7 and the Autobots attack and somehow a Sector 7 Soldier gets blown away and his Rifle gets tossed into the particle beam in Soundwaves device and totally shifts Megatrons cells (whatever) into taking the form of the gun and it's irreversible! Woo Hoo!!! ............I know, keep dreaming... =( (Reply to this) |

I don't know how true it held to the old series but I don't bloody care! It had a great story line, if you care to pay attention to it and the autobots and decepticons were very ... humanized. ;) Please tell me you're gonna introduce some female autobots into the movie, Michael Bay!!! :D (Reply to this) |
