Producer Confirms Transformers 2 Won't Make Strike Deadline

A hate plague on delayed sequels!

After more box office than meets the eye (ha ha), everyone is expecting a Transformers 2. However, these movies take time and with several guild strikes looming next year, it is unlikely we will see the Autobots again any time soon.

"The facts are that everyone is saying there will be [a strike]," said producer Don Murphy. "Lots of ideas are being pitched around. I suspect there will be one but the strike thing kind of confuses everyone. When would we have to start? There's no script. How would we be done by end of June?"

Murphy is positive there will be a sequel. It is just that development is likely to be held up with talent unavailable to proceed with development. "What we're expecting is that the Writer's Guild who's up in October will just magically elect to push until June which is when SAG is up. They'll all go on strike together. With no writers, you can't do any development."

Why the hell are the writers planning to strike in the first place? Do people in Hollywood really not get paid enough for what they do? I mean, how hard can it be to write a movie like Transformers 2?

thing?! just thinking about the positives because someone has too! but seriously, though

manofstee1, you have to be a little more detailed because you have the fan boys to

deal with and let me tell you after listening them you will want to go on strike;) just

kidding, cause i'm one too so i don't need to insult myself. other people do that for

me;)

Actors and Directors are striking in June too. Supposedly Writers, whose contracts are up in Oct., will wait for their more powerful brethren to walk with them.

They aren't fighting for fatter paychecks on the front end, they're fighting for fatter paychecks on the back... they want a percentage of profits made via the Internet and other tertiary platforms.

And in the scheme of Hollywood, writers are at the bottom of the barrel.

Great, they should take their time and not rush it out when somethings not finished. I agree though it shouldnt be too difficult, theres plenty of stuff to work with and theres a lot of popular storylines like galvatron and stuff floating around.

They're striking because they want better residuals and a larger share money generated from new-media outlets (internet-based entertainment, itunes, streaming media). They're completely entitled to their share of pie, because when the contracts were written years and years ago new media was never taken into account because nobody thought it would be such a serious venue.

Everybody has to stop complaining that people in Hollywood get paid to much. True, some due - but those are only the people you know. When you're a screenwriter and your film is streamed or bought online and you're not seeing that money - then that's a problem.

It's the studio-execs fault for being greedy and denying the artists profits from these lucrative outlets.

Producers are the ones that get a huge share in the movies. If they are tied to a studio, then the studio gets a percentage. However...the top money maker will most likely be the Producer, only if the movie is a success. But it is true what Arri Gold says from Entourage...."most movies don't make money".

after working in hollywood for a while i must say some one needs to open a non union film company then you will have real films and real talent the reason why movies suck these days is because its not talent but who you know the "union's" are just buddy clubs but things will change soon enough how im not sure but it will look at half the stuff coming out and if you ask me (wich you didnt but your ganna hear it anyway) the Transformers sucked I usta play with them as a kid they totally missed it and the execution of the cgi was horriable you couldnt tell what was going on and then the fight would be over it made money becuase of the name not the quality of the film
