"Transporter 3" to Shoot Next Year
by Fred Topel | March 12, 2007
Discuss Article
With the success of "The Transporter" and "Transporter 2," completing the trilogy seems like a no brainer. Yet, there has been little confirmation about plans to move forward, until now. Producer Luc Besson suggested a start date for a third adventure of Frank Martin the Driver.

"Probably March/April," Besson said, referring to 2008, not the current month.

Besson created the character and cowrote the scripts, as well as produced the first two "Transporter" films. Expect him to remain creatively involved in part three. "It’s too much fun," he grinned like a little kid playing with his toys.

With an early 2008 start, it is conceivable that the film could be finished in time for the September slot the first two films had. However, these are still early talks and Besson is not announcing any release dates.

Tranporter 1 ok, Transporter 2 more like a suc_cess.
I want Crank 2 not Transporter 3.
They might as well use a Smartcar in Trans 3.

T3? i dunoo....transporter 2 sucked. it was so out there it was retarded. i kept thinking this is so much worse than the first one.

THEN i went back and rewatched Transporter. yeah, it had some great fight scenes, but holy cow, i was surprised how gay it was. over-the-top stunts...too fake. it totally had the look and feel of a made-for-tv movie. and don't even get me started about the soundtrack. yeah, the music alone just about ruined the freaking movie for me. seriously. go back and watch it and listen to the music. (this is actually typical for luc besson's films. he digs stupid music.)

jason statham is stinkin cool, but dang, he is dangerously close to pigeon holing himself into one role and becoming the next b-movie action star.

*CRANK SPOILER*

The very thought of them somehow bringing back Statham's character would make me laugh. Maybe all the caffeine and drugs kicks his heart back to life.

The action is great and Jason is very cool, so a Trans 3 would be a good idea, if...but only if! If...they dump the Trans 2 stuff that involved the way-over-the-top car jump from building to building as well as the full mobius car-spiralling jump to un-hook the bomb from the undercarriage (couldn't a well placed speed bump have done that with a clever shopping center scene?).

A hot-driving-superhero needs a little more reality in the mix, even in this day and age of the young idiot American consumer who can only boast a 2 figure IQ. When in doubt, check out Steve McQueen in "Bullitt (1968)". If Jason's smart, he'll insist on something more realistic, so that his deeds pay off with more intensity...SR

both crank and trans 1 & 2 were over the top, ridiculous...but one surely knows that before even pressing play...you know they will be over the top, yes? I personally liked all 3 movies, not outstanding by any means, but good enough to not want those hours of my life back!

trans 3 would be sweet. and hey, stathams character DID blink at the end of crank, so you never know ;P we'll have to wait 'n see
