Statham to "Crank" It Up for Lions Gate
Hot off his success from "Transporter 2," tough-guy Jason Statham has signed a deal with Lions Gate to star in the high-concept action-flick "Crank," says The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie's about "a hit man who goes on a one-day rampage after he discovers that he has been poisoned and must seek vengeance while trying to save himself and his girlfriend. The film is based on an original screenplay by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, both of whom will direct in their debut."
(Editorial comment: This concept is "original" only to those who've never seen either version of "D.O.A.," but Statham's such a cool guy, we're willing to let it pass.)
