Along the way, however, he encounters a number of obstacles that strip him of the trappings associated with his role, and the farther he strays into the desert, the more he is left to his own devices. Finding himself without associates, his cell phone, directions, or connection to the outside world, Gustavo picks up a soldier hitchhiker, and runs out of gas in a near-deserted ghost town, where the two encounter the beautiful, enigmatic Mariel (Isabel Achaval).
