Tropic Thunder Rolls Out Official Site and Teaser
Cover the kiddies' eyes and ears.
Mere days after releasing the first still of Robert Downey Jr. with an unexpected complexion, Ben Stiller's Tropic Thunder has rolled out its official site -- and the coolest film tagline of the year.
Unfortunately, we can't share said tagline with you, at least not without risking a group seizure among Rotten Tomatoes' ever-vigilant obscenity police -- but we most definitely can direct you to the film's age-restricted site, now featuring a brief teaser and the following synopsis:
Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. lead an ensemble cast in "Tropic Thunder," an action comedy about a group of self-absorbed actors who set out to make the most expensive war film ever. After ballooning costs force the studio to cancel the movie, the frustrated director refuses to stop shooting leading his cast into the jungles of Southeast Asia, where they end up knee deep in the...
Uh, actually, we can't give you the full synopsis either. Darn obscenity police. Guess you'll just have to click on that link (and enter your vital statistics to prove you're old enough to handle all the fun). Get going!

on Mar 10 2008 07:09 AM yeah i enjoyed that. i dunno if the tagline will quite make the posters, but i like the approach. regardless of some of the questionable roles he's taken in his acting career, stiller the director is on point. after all, this is his follow-up to one of the funniest films of this decade: 'Zoolander.' and yes i'm serious, the movie is hysterical and i can view it time and time again and still find it entertaining ("... and I'll be a monkey's uncle if I have you ruin this for me! I invented the piano-key necktie!"). it's on a 'dumb and dumber' level in terms of sheer rewatchablility. so yeah, i've got high hopes for this movie, but c'mon, it's got tom cruise. xenu in tha hiz-ouse. on Mar 10 2008 07:16 AM Nice. Apparently it's for America only. And me who thought the internet was an international thing... (I'm Canadian and my postal code doesn't work...) (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 08:07 AM In reply to this comment (#1624751) Do they even have Postal Codes in Canada? I've never really been out of the US of A before. I just figured other countries were very primitive. By the way, Your writing skills of the english language is coming along! Keep it up and maybe you and other Canadians can be as smart and well respected in the world community and Americans. ( J/K, I love Canada. I used to live next the the Canadian border in Washington state. Vancouver BC was of the the nicest cities I have ever been to.) (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 08:49 AM It was a great railer, but it would've been better if those images didnt block half the screen. Still hillarious tagline, but I don't know if it's good for posters or commercials;) (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 10 2008 08:57 AM I am so hoping they put that on the commercials and the posters. I can just here the voice-over guy saying "***** Blows Up!!!!!!! August 15th!!", and hearing the gasp from up tight people as they register what was just said. Hilarious. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 09:23 AM Robert Downey Jr. just earned major points in my book for taking on this role, it's already hilarious. I only hope no one is pathetic enough to take insult to any of this movie. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 09:29 AM exactly whose approval do we have to present our validity for? you don't need id to see the movie, so why do we have to give any info for a trailer? since when is the mpaa the federal census bureau? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 10 2008 09:51 AM Under screenplay one of the credits goes to Etan Cohen... like Ethan minus the "H". Mere coincidence? A missing Cohen brother? A typo? Or is this the worst pseudonym ever? You be the judge. In any case I'm changing my name to Carlie Kaufman. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 10:22 AM A Ben Stiller movie that may actually be decent. What a concept! Pay attention Will Ferrell, Michael E-Bay, Roland Emmerich and David Spade you might actually learn something from this. Nahhhhh... (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 10 2008 11:07 AM This came out on SATURDAY on the site, it looks prtty funny. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 10 2008 11:13 AM That's definitely a teaser, not a trailer. This looks extremely promising! Great cast, and of course, Robert Downey just looks plain awesome. I've always enjoyed his movies, but this looks to be the stuff of legend! (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 11:22 AM It's great to see Downey making a comeback as of late. He was always one of my favorite actors and this role suits him to a "T". Unfortunately, this movie will probably be ripped by every conservative and NAACP group in the entire world. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 11:34 AM Funny, but I haven't heard a single protest over RDJ's blackface makeup yet. Mostly, I've heard a ton of "oh, I hope people don't protest about the makeup, because it's just a joke and nobody's going to GET it". Not that I mind the lack of protest, but it's strange that there's so much worry over seemingly, nothing. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 11:34 AM In reply to this comment (#1624751) Yeah it's pretty hilarious that they try to restrict something like this from general viewing just because it has a "bad word" or two. Pathetic. Visit this site to view: http (Reply to this) |

on Mar 10 2008 11:53 AM lol i like how Robert Downey JR. looks JUST like Don Cheadle. (Reply to this) |
